I think the presser was taken too literally. I think he was stating where you start when looking for a candidate but aren't limited to those traits.
His winning at temple was simply a miracle. He took over the worst program in college football with only 3 wins in the 3 years before he got there. He won 17 games in his last 2 years. That is a very serious history in taking a program at its lowest point and turning it into a winner.
I agree. He was awesome. At Temple.
Tennessee ain't Temple.
He's still not proven that he can win SEC or National Championships. He's proven he can take a terrible team and make it better than average. Just because the janitor can clean up a mess doesn't mean he's an architect.
The past 2 coaches should have told you we need a proven winner. No more guys with promise.
