My guess is that the contract isn't signed for 2 or 3 months in a lot of cases as the coach works under the MOU provides an out, but that seems kinda flimsy.If it's not an NCAA thing, it'd almost certainly be a state administrative rule rather than a statute. I would check but it's not really relevant, as many administrative rules have lots of "outs" and alternate rules depending on the circumstances.

I'll give ya this nugget. Saban told a member of Alabama Power that Gruden had asked him permission to speak to one of coaches on his staff about coming to TN. (He wasn't sure which one but thought it might be strength coach).
