to sum up what punch said to janet jimmy hyams...he knows how coaching searches work. he is a point of contact when coaches inquire about jobs with regard to the current state of a program and what the area of inquiry is like, due to his numerous contacts and depth of experience as a college football reporter. he flat out said that none of that is happening, and that the way dave hart is conducting this "search" would indicate that he has had his man for a while

Rainman called the Vols 13-0 in 1998. In the summer of 1998.

I liked the guy, haven't heard from him since I left Memphis in 2001. Hope he's right on Gruden.

Dr. B says that the money was raised ONLY to hire Gruden. Hart does not like this.

Rainey has been pretty close on a few of the UT coaching searches in the past, but again I think that was tied to the sexton's since Barret and Jimmy are in Memphis. He is not a Vol fan at all - but has been on the Gruden trend from the start.

He has connections enough to be able to put a strong case together.

I didn't hear it but that's what I imagined him saying when I read the first few posts referencing it.

People are getting way too carried away with this and the Gruden not being on MNF stuff.

Calm down.

Amd what do you think Hyams,Hubbs,Peenington or any of the other media in k-town is spouting about, their OPINION. I guarantee you Punch has as much or more connections than Hubbs or hyams or ay other knoxville reporter. Actually he has connections to ESPN and UT and probably truthfully has a better grasp the Hyams or Hubbs on this matter. GO VOLS GET GRUUUDEN!!!:rock:

Haha yes my wife rolls her eyes if I mention gruden. Though she was thrilled when Dooley was fired, leaving the Florida game she was more mad then me
