There was a Janet Easterday from Oak Ridge TN (15 miles from Knoxville for those who aint from east tn) who ran cross country at UT in 1986 and 1987. Aint that the exact two yrs Gruden was at TN? I may have cracked Janet Gate.

Was Cindy not there four years? Didn't say anything about knowing Jon.. She's supposed to be an ex cheerleader..

LOl, unfortunately they weren't anywhere near as organized as they are now in 1980. I was close to the cheer program when I was in school. I don't remember a Janet but that means nothing. I don't remember my own name some days.

Edit: Cindy aka Janet aka Cindy were there after my time.

My stepmother grew up with Cindy. They cheered together through high school. Cindy is not returning any messages from her circle of friends in Jeff Co. That is fact. My stepmother had tried to get a hold of her to see if she would be in town for Thanksgiving...a bunch of her friends were getting together for dinner and drinks at Angelo's at the Point in Dandridge. Again, Cindy never returned any messages.

Maybe her college friends know differently, but the Gruden's were in town for the 4th last year. I was on the lake with some friends, but my stepmom spent some time with Jon and Cindy while they were all at The Point in Dandridge.

I'm not going to get into to any of the rumors or who has heard or what I've heard and who I've heard it from. I'm cautiously optimistic. I will say this, though...Greg Roman would kill for the job. His father-in-law made it very clear at the Maryville/DB game and Roman even passed word along through a local dealership as well. I'm a fan of the Harbaugh Brothers and would welcome anyone associated with those guys.

I know you've got some placement advantages and believe you to have been truthful and forthright throughout the process. I just do not believe that he will pass up an NFL job for Tennessee if there are owners that really want him this time.

I don't doubt there have been discussions. From the beginning I've doubted that he'd jump to the college ranks over the NFL.

This isn't a shot at you or anyone else providing info. I believe the OGs have honestly passed info they believe to be truthful. It might very well be accurate. I don't know if it is or not.

In the end, though, I think the NFL wins out. That's what history tells me. And the history of Gruden being linked to other college jobs over the years tells me he won't end up here, either.

A random question that may already have been answered: Does Jon Gruden have a Master's degree from UT? I was just wondering if the GA position in football was anything like the GA position that assists a professor where the GA is actually working on their Master's degree. I'll hang up and listen.

Also, it has been reported the allegedly Gruden talked with R. Morris about DC position and that Redskins gave Gruden permission? Wouldn't this violate rules against tampering with NFL team coaches if in fact he were doing this in order to coach an NFL team?

I have heard the same thing about him coaching in the NFL don't know how much truth there is to it but heard it a few times
