I don't want Golden because first of all I don't think he's quite ready for a job as big as the UT job. But secondarily, if he DID come here and succeed over the next 3-5 years, he'd be off to his alma mater (PSU) when they next fall on hard times and need a new coach, and we'll be starting Official Jon Gruden Thread XXXVI.

No Golden for me... I'll take the Diamond...

Bring Fulmer back on the cheap. Then throw the checkbook at the assistants... Sit back and watch... It won't be long until we are back... Announce the Coach in waiting and let Phil go out on his terms in 3 years.

HC- Fulmer
OC- Jim Chaney
DC- John Chavis
QB-WR- Tee Martin
RB- Jay Graham
OL- Sam Pittman
DL- "Let Chavis Pick It"

You guys can fill in the rest of the Coaches... Bring in a star studded cast to surround the HC... Only then can we win...

You guys know it and I know it.. You can bring in any Coach in the nation.. And he will NOT win without the best Coordinators.. Then bring the best recruits.. Now we are talking about winning...

General Neyland quoted that the Head Coach of any football team is only as good as his supporting cast and players... Come on folks, we are VFL.. and we are a family.. I don't really care who the next Head Coach is, but he had better have some good Coordinators or we will be right back here in three years just like today discussing the same ole same ole...

No way in hell Fulmer will be the coach again at UT.... thank goodness!!!

Starting to wonder if all the Gruden talk that the some of the Vol faithful is hearing with Haslam is not for Tennessee but for Cleveland. With Holmgren departing the Browns they are possibly looking for a new coach in Gruden. With his hire he is wanting complete control. That would make more sense in the NFL than in College. In college you choose your assistants and players. Where in NFL the owners try to have a say in who gets hired with players and coaches.

Would you look at this. Maybe we'd better re-evaluate the Caddy rumors. :p

Gruden 100% and I will stick with that until someone else is introduced as the new coach!!
My thoughts are yeah Gruden comes with a high price tag ....but its like buying into a brand with this guy....and I feel like he could go into many kids living rooms and for sure fire them up about becoming a VOL!!

btw....newbie here from Gruden Station.....and I would like to say howdy to all the fellow Vol fans !

So the stadium was empty when Miami was winning? I believe that the university was still private, they still have to commute to the stadium, it was somewhat hot in Miami, and the beach was ever present during those years.

No. When the team was winning they played in the old Orange Bowl, which was very close to campus and in downtown Miami.

The new stadium (where the Dolphins play) is much further north and west of Miami, and not close to the campus at all...and frankly sucks to commute to if you live in Miami.

No, I don't believe that at all!

Sure I think that a majority of the money "could" be used for the hiring of a new coach. Will all of it? none of us will know, but it does make it look more promising for fans that these issues are trying to be resolved.

Someone please tell me how to change my screen name. I definitely do not want my current name to be considered as support for Golden... blech! That hire would almost make me consider crimson in my wardrobe for the 1st time in my life.

You could at least take the Metro to the Orange Bowl.

I don't remember him saying that. Was that during the press conference?

It was about 11 min into (dooley firing presser) he said you may have coaches in a different senerio who may be able to talk about the job & some who might want to wait till there season is over

I thought LWS was all Gruden is not a real candidate? Now according to the Cliffnotes he is saying different? If so raise me from 60/40 to 85/15.
