I can't believe anyone would say he is a good coach.

2006 - Temple 1–11
2007 - Temple 4–8 (4–4) T–4th (East)
2008 - Temple 5–7 (4–4) 3rd (East)
2009 - Temple 9–4 (7–1) T–1st (East)
2010 - Temple 8–4 (5–3) 3rd (East)
Temple: 27–34 (20–12)

2011 - Miami 6–6 (3–5) T–4th (Coastal)
2012 - Miami 7–5 (5–3) T-1st (Coastal)
Miami: 13–11 (8-8)

Overall losing record as a head coach. Only won his Conference division twice. Lost his only Bowl game.

Miami can keep him. My top choice is of course Gruden. My second choice is just about anyone but Golden.

Temple had won 3 games in 3 years before he took over. Dickerson won 8 games in 5 years. Wallace 19 in 8. Program was a dump

I still question this because of how quickly Dooley was hired.

Been wondering about this myself. Does anyone know if they got an exemption of some sort due to the circumstances at that time? Where I work it depends on the level of a hire. Meaning a CEO or similar high level can be done outside of the box.

I am guessing they would like to keep this in the box, if it is a rule.

Did hart not say in his presser that the new coach would need experience as a HC as well as a proven winner? I think a lot if people are reading too much into this Golden noise. Hart knows he would be fired for signing golden

He also said he would hire a coach that isnt coaching at the moment. Which could be Gruden.

Miami fans suck. Doesn't have anything to do with Golden.

He won 17 games in two years at Temple. SEVENTEEN. He's a fantastic coach in a no-win situation at the U.

I am with you. Golden would do a very good job here. I hope we do better but we could do worse. He certainly is higher on my list than smart

Is a public university so it has to post the job as well as interview.

I don't believe this is true. It is true for Civil Service (Now called Preferred Service jobs since this past years change in state law.) But there is no way that the Head Coaching job is anything but Executive Service meaning regular Civil Service practices do not apply.

I'm not necessarily arguing for him, but I think he's done more than his record suggests.

At any rate, why is UT feeding so much Golden speculation? There must be something there.

Has any caller came right out and asked these radio guys that keep saying they "hear Goldens name mentioned" how utterly stupid that is?

I get that, but I am still concerned with the lack of progress Miami is showing and the fact there are reports surfacing that the program is violating their probation.

You can have him. The guy has a losing record after 7 years as a head coach ( I think hes 40-45 ). How could you possibly think the he would be a good hire at a critical time like this?

The Board of Trustees were one vote away from shutting down the program completely when he got there, and the PSU board -- pre Sandusky -- were doing everything in their power to push out Paterno, so they could hire Golden.

He's not a homerun hire, by any stretch, but he's certainly no hack. Considering the NCAA has been investigating such claims like Vince Wilfork getting boosters to pay for abortions, when he got there, he's not the worst hire in the world.

Make it look like we got one of our top targets even if we swing and miss on a couple others?

Just guessing, but I think a Golden hire sets us back again.

I respectfully disagree...it would not set us back again...it would set us back FOREVER

but we are not starting from scratch. we need a shark that can swim the big fish ... not a building block kind of guy

we are Tennessee, not Temple

I know I'm behind here and I apologize in advance. Just read in the cliffs that LWS said it's still in the works and UT needs to fix some stuff. Is he referring to Gruden?

Golden and attendance at the U are not correlated. Miami natives as a whole hate commuting an hour from the university on buses to the stadium. Second you are competing with the beach. People forget about the heat, and other things to do in Miami. The school is private with roughly 10,000 people, and most students could care less about football. Still don't think Golden is a great hire, but at the same time that doesn't exclude him as a bad coach.

...and just because PSU wanted him doesn't make him any more attractive, imo
