Well it'd be nice if someone could either what the requirements are then. I know they have to interview a affirmative action candidate. Unless that has happened already or happening today I can't see an announcement coming anytime soon (and not considering the 10 day requirement). I'm sure the African-American community wouldn't be too happy if they knew a candidate was simply getting a token interview just to meet those requirements. Just a lot of things that aren't adding up right now based on the timeline many are suggesting.

Here's my best take on the procedure.

Timeframe is flexible. See timing of DD hire

3 people must interviewed but phone interviews do suffice.

No minority candidate has to be interviewed

How do you know if they have interviewed anyone. and where is this 10 day thing coming from I thought we disproved this a week ago

I don't know if they have interviewed anyone or not, just posing a question because I thought they were required to interview 3 candidates including an affirmative action candidate. Another poster just made a good point on the Dooley hire though; he was hired 3 days (I think it was) after Kiffin left.

Did we? I follow the thread closely but must have missed that. So the 10 days etc isn't accurate then?

That's fine. Guess you missed DH say himself, he did not want to do anything, as long as the team was still playing for a bowl game. he said it not once, but twice.

I can tell you the sky is green. That doesn't make it so. Facts are Hamilton was fired by the people that pay the bills and Dave Hart was brought in by the same men.

Just did a search on SpringBokVol's posts and he did come back and say there are ways around the timing issue (10 day suggestion). More emphasis on the interviewing of coaches. Of course, that can be done over the phone in a few hours.

Your confusing the NFL's Rooney Rule with something you pulled out of your arse.

Thx Bruin, I value your posts so will move forward with that.

If Gruden, or any candidate for that matter, is announced soon then Hart has done a great job of plugging leaks within the AD because the local media will have totally whiffed.

No 10 days is not accurate and there is no Rooney Rule(if thats how you spell it) in college football

haha relax big-guy, just wanted to make sure I had full understanding of how everything works, why I ASKED.

Thx Doc_Vol. I wasn't trying to call you or anyone else either, btw. I just wanted to make sure I fully understand how the process works.

I do not believe they have to interview a minority candidate, that is an NFL rule...The Rooney rule.

As for the amount of time a job has to be posted...The hiring of the football coach is complicated due to many factors not the least of which is market value. The argument used to get around normal policy is The Complexities of Football. Jimmy Cheek used this argument in denying the appeal of Moshak, Mason and Schlosser. In that particular case it may be considered an over reach, but I assure you in the hiring of the head football coach it is not. JMO.

You mean black community? They all are pissed at the same time by a hiring process? BTW, college doesn't have a Rooney rule.

I want to believe stuff like this but the "insiders" on here are starting to make claims that contradict basic University and state policy.

TN has to interview 3 candidates and have the job posted for 10 days before they can announce a coach, is this not correct? If it is then there is no way they can announce anyone on Monday by the timeline alone.

I've been on board the Gruden train for awhile and want to believe but doubt is creeping in.

Lane Kiffen resigned on January 12, 2012
ESPN reported hiring of Derek Dooley on January 16, 2012.

I'm cooking my fish listening to Pink Floyd channel on Sirius/XM channel on my IPhone and Division Bell came on. It made me think of our fan base and this thread.

Yeah, I don't understand this either. SpringBokVol posted this...but then someone else posted that the AD has separate rules and can do whatever basically.

Again, I don't post much, but............there is NO rule that says TN has to post this job and interview 3 people. It's a misnomer. This is coming from someone second in charge in HR at a state university in the state of TN.

Hey, have you been drinking while I have been trying to fend off marauders?

I jest wet my whistle a little. Might as well have a couple of beers while waiting on you. You're doing a fine job, by the way.

Miss Kitty, let me have another one of them beers. :)

No problem, hey we are all on the same team here GBO!

Haha, I'd imagine Johnnie would have something to say if he felt black coaches weren't getting a fair shot for job openings. Obviously until now I thought it was a college rule as well.

Moving on, thx for the clarification everybody.
