1. I think the media smells something's up. Last week Gruden story was tailing off, then you have Jason La Confora and Mortenson make comments that Grude is possibly coming to UT. CDD is fired and all of the sudden members of the local media goes Full Gruden...ie Clay Travis, Erik Ainge, Gary Haskew and Rob Higgins...now the national media is starting to discuss more, mentioned on DP Show today, Erin Andrews speculating CJG to Vols...
2. Nothing is official. Why? I think timing. UTAD wants to finish the season, start new, and hit the news before the run up to the SEC Championship. Everyone in the country will have basically 1 game to watch next Saturday. No USC vs ND, no Iron Bowl no BCS talk (well not as much BCS talk since reg seasons are done). No other SEC game. This will be the story of the week nationally, it will be a more focused attention from the major networks, media and fans aren't distracted with Turkey and such.
3. That being said, most of the information from UTAD seems to be little if nothing which goes back to the fact that Hart doesn't want to be connected until it is done...most of the info out that Gruden is coming seems to be out of boosters and or people who are connected to boosters from what I gather.
Btw, just caught this from NBCSports... SIAP.
ESPN removes reference to Jon Gruden leaving from PTI broadcast | ProFootballTalk
"...Weve noted a few times this season that speculation about Jon Gruden leaving the Monday Night Football booth to return to coaching could make for some delicate situations at ESPN. Weve seen another example of that today.
According to Deadspin, ESPN.com accidentally published an audio file containing everything that was said before, during and after Wednesdays taping of Pardon the Interruption, and that included comments about Gruden leaving ESPN which ESPN edited out of the show when it aired..."
