Official Jon Gruden Thread IX

My wife walks by the computer, stops and sez "Are they getting him?"

I look back and say "The sheep have passed through the gate, they are come to the killing floor."

And then I say
"The buffalo had taken wings?"

And then to reassure her, I do a deliberate breech of etiquette and say this.

"The possum has crawled under the rock."

Let me guess, she thought you were asking for sex "in code"?:spank:

Skeeter, I respect your opinion as well in recruiting but I have a question for you.

Kind of lengthy but just a question for everyone saying we are going to look at Jim Mora Jr.

Q: CJM has made about 30-40 million dollars in his lifetime not including the current 5yr/12 million dollar deal he is working with UCLA. If someone makes that kind of money but is working with momentum for recruiting and winning possible championships and then ultimately (possibly) over-recruiting USC as well. Is it worth it for him to stay especially since he has a very promising future at UCLA with all the resources or does going back to a possibly competitive job at Tennessee for more money?

To me I just don't see money as much of a factor especially if we are lookiing at offering him possibly 500-800 more.

Is this a mergearrific post? Seems a little out of place to me.

It's SBVs job to know this type thing.

I know Jay... As you know I am 100% Gruden but

SBV said the job had to be open 10 days or so before we can hire a new coach.... Kiffin left on 12...Dooley hired on the 15th

If what SBV said is right...my real question is how did we do that?

What do you mean the media knows? If they know, they aren't reporting it. Saying it's a possibility but no one in the media is saying this is anywhere close to a done deal. This thread is the only place I see that.

Don't get me wrong, I think Gruden is coming. I am taking you guy's word for it. Just don't see the media being involved yet.

1. I think the media smells something's up. Last week Gruden story was tailing off, then you have Jason La Confora and Mortenson make comments that Grude is possibly coming to UT. CDD is fired and all of the sudden members of the local media goes Full Gruden...ie Clay Travis, Erik Ainge, Gary Haskew and Rob Higgins...now the national media is starting to discuss more, mentioned on DP Show today, Erin Andrews speculating CJG to Vols...
2. Nothing is official. Why? I think timing. UTAD wants to finish the season, start new, and hit the news before the run up to the SEC Championship. Everyone in the country will have basically 1 game to watch next Saturday. No USC vs ND, no Iron Bowl no BCS talk (well not as much BCS talk since reg seasons are done). No other SEC game. This will be the story of the week nationally, it will be a more focused attention from the major networks, media and fans aren't distracted with Turkey and such.
3. That being said, most of the information from UTAD seems to be little if nothing which goes back to the fact that Hart doesn't want to be connected until it is done...most of the info out that Gruden is coming seems to be out of boosters and or people who are connected to boosters from what I gather.

Btw, just caught this from NBCSports... SIAP.

ESPN removes reference to Jon Gruden leaving from PTI broadcast | ProFootballTalk

"...We’ve noted a few times this season that speculation about Jon Gruden leaving the Monday Night Football booth to return to coaching could make for some delicate situations at ESPN. We’ve seen another example of that today.

According to Deadspin, ESPN.com accidentally published an audio file containing everything that was said before, during and after Wednesday’s taping of Pardon the Interruption, and that included comments about Gruden leaving ESPN — which ESPN edited out of the show when it aired..."

Sources tell me Saban is leaving for the nfl. College bores him.

Say he has been looking in his closet at night for Gruden.

Can't name names. Sorry

NSD being around the corner may have sped up the process.

Wondering if it has to do with circumstance of position opening. Quitting v/s getting fired. Just a guess.

This baby may hit 15,000, because the Mods may be all off duty due to it being Thanksgiving.

"Accidentally" published an audio file....riiiight.

Looked up from the laptop to see the ESPN bottom line showing "BREAKING NEWS" and about crapped myself. Turned out just to be some crap about the 49ers quarterbacks. Damn it.
