I agree that time is of the essence, but people have been saying that the timeline is not of UT's choosing. If it is indeed Gruden, then he might want to wait awhile merely out of respect for Dooley. Or some other monetary or contractual reason previously discussed. Is that more important then getting an early start fixing Ut football. Paul Harris was just offered by Oregon, and others were already shaky. We desperately need a coach now to build relationships and bring in a top class.
I saw that too , but if anyone could afford it , it was Notre Dame. That being said , Gruden still got more. How much did Weis get exactly? I guess only Front Butt knows for sure.
Can anyone confirm if he actually said that and is he reliable?
Take this FWIW. I don't ever post, but I have been living and dying by this search for the past few months. I have been fully on board the entire time, but I just came from a bar in Little Rock where I meet my "sports investing liaison" each week and heard some disturbing news. Jerry Lamb and a member of the BOT are there every week and we always speak with them. Tonight Lamb claimed that it wasn't looking good for Gruden. Apparently, we gave him what was asked for he seems to be having second thoughts. The BOT guy then said, we haven't been told anything by Long (no surprise), but I know that if there were a presser this weekend we would have heard about an upcoming vote. This BOT was hearing it was Gruden two weeks ago, but now he claims that it will be Gundy. He said that it was close to a done deal and that he expected after Dec 1st for their vote and then an announcement. Guys, the Gruden news came straight from Lamb's mouth and he would know since he is JJ's best friend. It was fun while it lasted. Flame away, but I left the bar sick to my stomach with this news because to me it was like hearing it straight from JJ himself.
Longtime lurker here chiming in. I hope we get Gruden as much as everyone else here. A bunch of people on here saying "its a done deal" and "we landed the big fish." Problem is they've been saying this for a while now, EVERYDAY. If it was a done deal a week or 2 ago, then why is there a confirmation text or call to our people with inside knowledge every night? Hurdles have been cleared, demands have been agreed upon....EVERYDAY.
Now I don't pretend to know how these "negotiations" go down. But, there have been enough daily confirmations on here to account for 20 contracts. All this leads me to believe that Skeeter and LWS are right maybe. The other group of posters seem to be getting their info from money people that are as hopeful and excited as we are. Meaning, when terms are casually sent to Gruden and he says cool, everyone is interpreting "sweet done deal" and send their txt messages out. But he obviously isn't committing. So the next day, they try and appease another demand. And, Grudens says awesome. But he signs nothing. This could be the cycle explaining the daily "100% confirmed" statements.
Again, I pretend to know no inside info and I hope desperately to land Gruden. I just think these money people aren't doing a good job interpreting the conversations. This thread is immensely entertaining tho. VFL
