Please explain to me...if Gruden wants 51 million for 8 years, that is 6.375 million a year, and wants to hire Raheem Morris for 1.5 million per year and hire Chad Morris for 1.5 million a year...that is 9.375 million just going to 3 coaches.
Now the "insiders" say big boosters have agreed to pay 9 million for next coaching staff...
EXPLAIN to me how the other coaches are to be paid OR are we just going to have 3 coaches...
The Tampa Bay contract isn't stopping him from coaching anywhere if he decided to coach. The reason he didn't coach the past 2 years was because he didn't want to move because his son was still in high school. That came directly from Gruden.
Gruden interviewed for the Miami job 2 years ago FWIW
Of course they are not restricting him... he draws a check from them... If he accepts a coaching position he will no longer recieve the money...geeeeeee
Gruden, like most in the top of the coaching profession, is a fierce competitor and as such has an internal need that will not be met in a commentary booth.
Coaches of his caliber or perceived caliber are very seldomly hired to maintain the status quo nor do they pursue those types of jobs with limited challenges. If you think Gruden is "happy" with his current assignment, then I am glad to know others are helping to make this hire.
This guy is driven by competition. Money is important but being at the top is what motivates this guy. I don't want this to come off the wrong way but ego goes beyond what is being discussed here. Healthy respect of his ability to motivate others.
