Official Jon Gruden Thread IX

Colin Cowherd just said on ESPN Radio that Tennessee was high on Todd Graham at Arizona State...

I suspect between now and the announcement, that we will hear every name out there. Likely, the AD will "poll" a lot of potential candidates. They would be derelict in their duties if they didn't.

Every time that happens, somebody will get wind of it.

Hart can make a lot of friends by getting some folks a nice bump in their salary.

After a busy mid-morning, I see we've slowed down. Thank you.

Everyone have a safe and happy Thanksgiving weekend.

I really, really hate the bigfoot sightings game, but I have been told by no less than 8 people independently that claim that they saw Gruden at the Marriott on West End Saturday. These are real people that all were staying at the Marriott as well.

I was there (at the Marriott) Saturday night during the game and I didn't hear or see anything like that.

It is hard to know what is true, because all of those people could easily have been repeating things that they heard.

I don't put much stock in it, but you never know.

I was driving...and reading this..and posting...I know it's bad. Anyways I was trying to say He was in California the next day for sure, I saw him lighting the Al Davis flame or whatever. He could've flew in that morning. If he was in Nashville, with all the hype going around, you would think someone would've took a picture, or reported it or something along those lines.

Yep. I think Hart has a dartboard in his office with coaches names on it. When he gets in every morning he closes his eyes and throws a dart at the board. Whichever name he hits, that is the rumor for the day.

I just thought it was kind of odd for Cowherd to mention it the way he did. He siad two sentences about it and moved on. To me that puts in perspective the type of hire Gruden would be to Tennessee.

someone probably already posted this but I wanted to re post. This came from the rumors section on ESPN.

UPDATE: One of the complaints from Tennessee's previous staff is that the school didn't give them every opportunity to win in the SEC. Tennessee was seen as lacking in certain areas and it handcuffed the program. It shouldn't be a problem any longer.

"Tennessee is apparently serious about hiring the right football coach for it program because the university chancellor is putting money where his mouth is," Ken Bradley of SportingNews.com wrote. "As in about $18 million."

The extra money should allow Tennessee to pay its coach at an elite level. The top ten salaries around the country according to coachinghotseat.com range from $5.3 million (Alabama's Nick Saban) to $3.25 million (Oregon's Chip Kelly and TCU's Gary Patterson). Derek Dooley's salary was $1.9 million.

Money should be no object in this search, and it could help Tennessee land the caliber of coach it is desperately searching to hire.

I just hope Hart doesn't get too confused talking to all these coaches and inadvertently re-hires Dooley...

I dont know you or really ever read any of your posts so obviously you have no knowledge of what's going on. I know the right ones to believe and the ones like yourself who just spout out stuff trying to make a new buddy or to stalk. Hope this clears up everything for you.

I never claimed once to know or be in the know (I'm not), and I want the same people you are talking about to be correct. Never once I have ever spouted off anything outside of people need to be rational on both sides.

My point was what you just said. You don't know for a fact that he is coming. As you said you 'believe'. Nothing wrong with that, but realize it is ok to be 50/50 about it too.

U bein serious? He's joking dude..

preeshate it. It was just a spin on a quote from a movie.

Just got this off twitter.....

Jay Graham on coming to UT: "I’d do it again. I love my University. I wdn't think twice about it if I had a 2nd opportunity to do it."

My take, he will be here with Gruden! Just my opinion not a source.

This is what I think: cjg announces on MNF 11/26. Official acceptance 11/30 with presser. ESPN wants glory of the announcement and will let cjg out of his contract to finish MNF if he does this. Wants to get recruiting started.. Flame away!
