Official Jon Gruden Thread IX

I've been a member on here for a while. I read constantly, but don't really post that often. Ive been follwing this thing closely since thread 1. I am not as connected as a lot of people around here seem to be, but here is what I've been able to put together. I have a friend who works in the AD and would usually know if something was going on. He hasn't heard anything at all. To me this validates the point that Hart has had absolutely nothing to do with this hire. Another friend I have is fairl close with one of the mega boosters and from what he tells me this thing is done and has been done for weeks. It has been my dream for Gruden to coach here since the great pumpkin left and I really believe we finally have him.

Good catch.

I breezed over his post and totally missed that typo, and read it to mean 1st amendment rights.

If you insert "1st amendment rights", he is generally right...

I knew what he meant, but just couldn't pass up the opportunity to have some fun with it. We almost had a duel...and it looks like we still might.

Not quite the only one left. IF Gruden does not happen for the Vols, this forum will certainly fall off. But there are hordes of posters in the FF that you can hang out with and most likely feel right at home.

Not gonna lie though. I'm going to miss all these grumors either way. This has been quite entertaining.

Not that it really affects anything for UT, and I'm on mobile so you're SOL on a link, but Duke and Cutcliffe have agreed on a contract extension. It's on Twitter.

EZE ... Can you catch me up on this 'transfer of cash'? I'm trying to catch up on the day's events but it appears I'm hopelessly behind...

Somebody correct me if I am wrong and this is in the Cliff Notes Thread. But, Cheek agreed to let the AD keep an additional $6 million per year more over the next three years than what it had been keeping.

The bolded part of this tweet makes a lot of sense. Ok I'm really headin out now. Sleep tight Grudes!!

@VolsCoachGruden: @ErikAinge3 Cheek is reinvesting 18m back into the AD. You don't free up that kind of money for just anybody... #GrumorHasIt

Cheek announced 18mil Headed back to athletics... Huge news

Outstanding! Our AD funneling money to the educational side has been a sore topic the last several days in the media. Many claim we would have a real stockpile of cash if not for the constant stream of funds headed that direction. If the football team is truly UT's front porch, it's about time this happened.

Cheek used the phrase reinvesting. Said a healthy athletic department was good for the university. Big turn around from his reputation

The AD gets to keep what it was investing to the Uni for three years...no dumping of AD funds into the uni...

Wow! If not declining is PROOF, then Gruden is certain to coach a bunch of teams next year.

If you think gruden isn't talking to UT , you live in the caves . All it takes is a simple , yes or no; he hasn't said no , and has been interested for quite a while .

If i remember correctly when a lot of posters were saying shannon last year both shot down those rumors. Most of the other insiders missed on that one. Now whether it fell through at last second or not who knows. Deerpark is pretty conservative putting anything out there and i dont believe larry is connected like he used to be but jmo.

Thanks for the info, but being right on a Dc hire that could have been f'ed up is not much of a record.

Virtually zero. Formal interviews haven't even taken place yet. Hart hopes to meet with candidates next week.

Note the emphasis on "Formal" interviews. Hart could just be buying time and trying to explain why he isn't doing any real interviewing for an open job. By the time he gets around to it, we will be announcing Gruden as the new coach.
