Official Jon Gruden Thread IX

Coasts I like you as a poster. In fact your one of my favorites. I am going to continue to ask questions and give me opinions about the little details of this process. I haven't intentionally attacked any poster personally but I have picked apart some opinions about this. I was under the impression that's what this board was intended to do. People discussing details and opinions doesn't sound like such a bad thing. A thread where all the opinions are exactly the same wouldn't be informational IMO. If you want it blindly one sided ignoring me is the Answer.

I count you as a good poster most of the time myself, and will not place you on ignore...If I choose so, I can do that without my computer doing it for me...at least that is what my wife says.

If I did choose to place you on ignore then I would remind you that your voice is not the only naysayer on this board, so that would certainly not in its self achieve the result you believe it would.

I like discussion and honest disagreement is good and healthy. As a matter of fact if I cannot take any disagreement... then I do not really believe what I say I do. The only thing I have said and still believe is when you have been given the answer, even if you don't agree... that is still the answer!

This staff could be amazing. I am fine with keeping most of the offensive staff. Even though TN is 4-7, the offense has been on pace to break records most of the year.

Omg...the suspense is killing me! If all this stuff is true..i cam only imagine the party in Knoxville when they announce this! A month ago i never saw this happening.....but i do now!

I'm tired of these baffoons clamping for petrino. Why would anyone want him. He gets pounded by his rivals and recruiting is not that fancy. I can't get why people dismiss Fulmer but would kill to get Petrino. No sense.

"TENNESSEE HAS LANDED THE BIG FISH......HERE ARE THE BIG 5 THAT BROKERED THE DEAL...ANDERSON, EGBERT, CAMPBELL, HASLEM.AND A GREAT NAME IN VOL.HISTORY, PEYTON MANNING....HART IS A NOBODY IN.THIS BUT THE CREDIT WILL.GO TO HIM.....ANNOUNCEMENT COMING...ITS A GREAT TIME TO BE A VOL
Gary Haskew 102.3 Chattanooga."

That makes me think Parcells instead of Gruden.

He then posted "
Just telling you about the big 5....they are not in it to hire anyone other than Gruden...AND THE BIG 5 IS IN.IT.....done deal boys....also a leak from the GOVS office.....happy days friends"

Let's entertain this Chaney thing for a moment. If he does stay, I say we call him the cockroach, and that's not an insult.

We've blown this place to hell and back three times (including the assistant exodus last year), but Chaney lives on.

When Rod Wilks graduates, Chaney remains.

How many head coaches does it take to fire Jim Chaney?

If all this is true and it is somehow announced before Saturday's game...could you imagine the atmosphere this Saturday? Or maybe I will be the only one acting insane.

not true. He said Pittman and JG

It is posts like this that cause some to waver on what is being put out. We have two posts with two different things. It was either Pittman and JG or Hinshaw and JG, not both scenerios.

Not being a jerk, just stating this is why some get on edge.

The Battle era doesn't make one THAT old. I wouldn't be surprised if there are posters here who have been following the team since the Neyland era.

Listened to some of the Neyland games on the radio with my mom... she was a goo mother, introduced me to Vol football... But started following on my own when The swamp rat was the QB

Thanks RO.... we "the Vols" will become one again... this split nation shall arise out of the flame as a phoenix from the burnt ashes, and as another poster has said "and we will be bringing He!! with us" and may God have mercy on the SEC

I've been saying that for months now. Was called an idiot......guess who's smiling now.

Who was it? Who!?!? Who!?!?!? Who's smiling now?? Is he wearing a red tie or an orange tie?? Did he mention UT?? What ever shall I do??
Where ever shall I go???? Alas!!!

Ooops, misread your post.
You should be grinning like a split watermelon. :)

And let them know you are smiling now. And why.

Gruden has changed since TB. He has spent a lot of time studying the college game. People need to take a step back when evaluating Chaney. The guy can flat out coach offense. Every game I was at this year there were a dozen times guys were running WIDE open. His scheme works.

Gruden will help with situational play-calling, which seems to be the biggest gripe with Chaney, so if that is taken care of, what's not to like?

I agree with this. Even though I have questioned some third and short plays, I wonder how much that is QB play and not the call. I specifically remember attending the UGA game last year and thinking that Chaney had a great scheme to get Rivera open. He was open a lot if the game. I do think think he is good at scheming. I just wish he would use the screen game and off tackle runs just a little more.
