I think the problem with many here, me included, is that we have been so shell-shocked the past 5+ years, that negative news is what we have come to expect to be true!

We just need quality posters like yourself to hold us and tell us everything will OK!

Personally, I think I have had at least 14 mild heart attacks since GrudenIII.

Thank you for bringing some calm sanity here.......now hold me! :)

I thought the idea was to have fun and enjoy all this. And the Gruden threads have been pure entertainment at it's best. Some people pay vast amounts of money for entertainment that don't equal this.

Maybe Freak should charge admission to this thread. I'd probably ante up.

I am all in with far more confirmation than what has been posted here. Just repetitious to keep repeating the same things. ADHD mentalities itt.

It bears repeating, any more "real news" from UT will be when they are taking the podium. I DO NOT want more news before then as it would be bad.

Do you see a formal announcement by the UA AD that they offered? I hear a reporter saying he was offered, not that he accepted, entertained or even responded.* It seems you turn everything into an opportunity to play devil's advocate. I am not wringing my hands at every turn.

My discussion this morning hasn't been pro Arkansas. It been strictly a discussion about this not being a done deal. Hell we have slice on here yesterday claiming we upped our offer around noon. People rejoiced as if that was good. All it told me was this deal isn't done!!

My thoughts are that if this offer thing was legit, there would have been a number attached to the reports. If you really wanted people to know what a massive effort you made, there would have been some spectacular amount tied to the reports. Only thing Ive heard is highest paid coach which is either deliberately vague or the best people who dont know jack could come up with.

Very quick story. I started talking to a doc at vanderbilt hospital last week (we are there for new baby that needs some surgery, btw, wonderful people and so thankful to be there), and we start talking about UT. He's a vandy grad and I tell him we may indeed get Gruden. The reaction ? " oh, no way. Come on. That will never happen" I just smiled and I hope to see him again after the announcement so I can smile really big! :) thanks to all for your info. It has been a much needed distraction through the season and now our journey with our new addition. :hi:

I slept well but I did dream of our coaching search. I am no Kmart Magic 8 Ball, but I did have visions of Gruden dancing through my head.

The Arky offer is a RUMOR, and even if true is actually likely old news.

The two things have nothing to do with one another.

There is a term in the legal community known as puffing which is defined as follows:

"An expression of opinion by seller not made as a representation of fact... Exaggeration by a salesperson concerning quality of goods (not considered a legally binding promise); usually concerns opinions rather that facts."

Additionally, an agent/attorney is obligated to take any offer to client that has been made by a party pursuant to the Model Rules of Professional Conduct. A certain amount of puffing goes on in every contract negotiation, settlement negotiation and plea bargain. Parties to negotiations will often inform the other party that they only have $______ to resolve a matter when they actually have more $$$ in their pocket. The same can be said for contract negotiations!
