2013 NC WR Marquez North (UT signee)

Forgive my ignorance... What do you mean by "dead leg"... I have no idea what that refers to.

Give him something to hit, then take it away. Check the td run called back by a bs call. I thought he was tackled. Instead CP just set him up and went right by.
I feel like that is why he highstepped on dudes ass. That was no penalty. Just a great run.

If CP played for a top 10 team I guarantee he'd be in the middle of the heisman talk. Crazy how stupid good he is..I just wish he'd stick around for another year.

RT @_tarheelnation: @Niebuhr247 what are the chances that Carolina gets a commitment out of Marquez North? // To me, team to beat

This is what Niebuhr tweeted.

Dead leg....talk about an old school term, Caddy Wiiliams was great at using a dead leg to avoid tackles.... its a relaxing of the leg begore ones hit so that the tackler normally goes through the leg missing the tackle. Its more about how to bounce off a tackle than juke one

MarQuez North, WR, Charlotte Mallard Creek (Class of 2013)
Recruiting Update- North loves Tennessee. He also loves North Carolina. In fact, he named them his co-leaders Friday. But with the Tennessee staff apparently on shaky ground, that means advantage Tar Heels. North Carolina coach Larry Fedora recently took a helicopter to one of North's games -- even though he's out with a season-ending injury. That move by the Tar Heels staff made a big impression on North and the Mallard Creek community. Teammate Brian Walker already is a North Carolina commit. North has visited the Tar Heels several times, and his dad also likes that program. Clemson and Florida would be the other teams to watch. North may visit Oregon, but because of the distance (something important to North and his family) that seems to be an unlikely destination.
Prospect Note- North will be presented his U.S. Army All-American Bowl jersey Tuesday. He had surgery to repair a torn labrum two weeks ago and will not be able to play in the game but will still make the trip.

Another article I found.Wow really a helicopter.UNC pulling out everything they can.

He "Prime Timed" him so bad. LOL you've got to hit CP chest high if you can.

Finally, North is a tough read as well, with so many schools still in play. He's looking at Oregon now and also likes Clemson, Tennessee, Florida, Ohio State and North Carolina.

Rivals

He just said in the Rivals chat today that the best atmosphere was at UT. We are still in his top group but he wants to see who our new OC is going to be...

I've tried to temper my expectations for the new coach and tone out the Gruden stuff but I have a question for you guys and this seems like a good time to ask it. IF Gruden were the hire do you think he would give thought to keeping Chaney? Also seems like that's what would interest North.

IF Jon Gruden is willing to court the interest and commit here, recruits would flock. I still think a coach not as flashy as him would get going on recruits.

No offense but I think Chaney's ass would be canned. Gruden wants his blueprint all over the offense (like Saban with the Bama D). Gruden would bring in his own crew.

I would be in a vast minority I think, but I have no problem keeping Chaney. He has his moments, but I'll take the body of work.

However, I do not think that will be done.

Keeping Chaney would be a mistake. IMO

Keeping Chaney is not a problem. Having a Head coach to veto some of his play calls is.

his scheme is sound. his timely decisions arent.

again, as the Head Man, there has to be an ability to call to the booth and insist on certain plays to benefit the TEAM and not just the offense.

ie Dick Vermeil and Mike Martz relationship.

Chaney is hamstrung by his egocentric, micromanaging boss.

No. Chaney has too much control of his own offense. How many times have we thrown on 1st and 2nd down inside the 5 yard line this season? That's on Chaney. How many times have we had the opportunity to keep an offense off the field by controlling the clock with our offense, while keeping our inept defense off the field? That's on Chaney.

Chaney is good. His scheme works. It's his situational play-calling that can be just dumb.

What about the end around BS he loves to call? What about the no WR screen rule? How about after the run gets stopped a few times he loses all hope in the running game? And my biggest problem is this, he'll call a great aggressive game 1 week and the next week he calls a scared game like he doesn't know what he's doing. I want an aggressive offensive coordinator that goes after a defense all game. Also one that doesn't frog up down in the redzone or in critical 3rd and 1 situations.

I'm not 100% convinced those are all Chaney's decisions.

I disagree with this. You are always clamoring that CP gets more touches, and the end around is a great way to get him touches. He's got to be averaging about 10 yards/carry on the end around. Doesn't seem like a fair criticism of Chaney. JMO.
