Official Jon Gruden Thread VI

Why wait now???? Cats out of the bag. It's all over the media. It will be more of a distraction to this team than if he were fired publicly. Lets try to win these last two.

My feelings exactly, basically everyone seems in agreement on his termination but not announcing until all the legal is done. Could be today-tomorrow-after Vandy or at the end of the season. This makes me feel way better knowing the most ridiculous assertion on VN right now would be Dooley in 2013. That was a far bigger fear of mine than his replacement. Just get the details worked and announce it already, take the pressure off even if he finishes the season on the sidelines.

Been saying it all along....he knows.

I am not doubting you, just trying to figure out why Ainge would say the opposite of what he knows. What would he have to gain by reporting something he knows not to be true? Wouldn't that ruin his credibillity?

Ainge is now making a living by people taking him seriously. He isn't going to get on the air and report info he isn't sure is correct as a certainty under any circumstances. His livelihood depends on it. Think about it, who in their right mind would continue to listen to him if he intentionally misleads his listeners.

Ainge and his info is one of two things here:

1) he is correct and the JG issue is dead and past. Which means his info is more up to date than the info in this thread.

2) his info was correct last week but something has changed with The issues JG needed taken care of and JG is now back on board.

I hope it's the 2nd one but its more logical that his info is more up to date.

We have OV here. He is a former player with connections to a person who has been verified by several people to be in the middle of this as far as boosters. I'll believe him over Ainge at this point.

I stopped analyzing a few weeks ago. I believe the guys on here to have good info, and if it doesn't work out, then we'll see what happens. But whatever happens I do believe what they are saying. Bad info can picked up easily, i.e. babyavi.

All he would have to do is say he knew about it but didn't think everything would get worked out. Then go on to talk about why he disussed other candidates as options.

Nothin new really, just seems like smoke screens are getting thicker which is good imo. Like I said, until Gruden says it ain't happnin, I'm still believing!

So, when it looks more and more like Gruden is not coming, that's a good thing?

I wish I could follow the logic in this thread.

Still holding out hope for a today-tomorrow announcement. Would give a boost going into Vandy removing all the uncertainty imo. Media may force them to do so, or have the only UT discussion until they do involve Dooley not tickets, the team, or the games. Makes no sense to not announce something.

Ainge has not been misled, he knows what side his bread is buttered. Look at al the interet activity this is bringing to their station, makes it much easier to solicit new business when your trafic numbers are up from listeners.

Right.

My point with what I said had more to do with the Gruden stuff being valid.

Ainge knows.

I don't understand why the AD doesn't go ahead and announce it if indeed it has happened. I don't see any benefits at all of waiting until after the UK game.

I think they want to work behind the scenes and have the next coach signed before making a public announcement on Dooley. The last coaching search conducted in public was embarrassing.

Have you heard Jon Gruden or Dave Hart say that it isn't happening? No you haven't. You just want to come in here and sh*t on anyone that thinks Gruden is still a possibility. No logic needed on rumors. You either believe them or you don't. You just enjoy calling people comical idiots if they are not on your side of the fence.

I agree. I think seats would fill knowing DD is not on the sidelines. Fans would feel that the team would be more "all in" than before.

Copied this todays John Adams... interesting quote

In fact, hiring Gruden make so much sense, I would be OK with him bringing along Mike Tirico, his booth buddy on "Monday Night Football," as defensive coordinator. And if they want to coach Saturday's game against Vanderbilt, so much the better.

But suppose, for some bizarre reason, the Gruden-to-Tennessee deal falls through. Then, where would UT athletic director Dave Hart look?

It was embarrassing, but hiring a coach right after you fire one doesn't look good either. And what coach would want to be associated with a hire like that?

Saying boro is correct and Ainge is wrong is a perfectly believable stance. Much more so than Ainge is a smokescreen

At this point what difference does it make if it is announced this week as opposed to after KY.

Dooley is done!

Better days are coming.

To be able to concentrate on Vandy and maybe still make a bowl? That's my number 1 reason. It's all over the media, this whole week will be a circus if they don't. Players will feel pressure all week. Leave him on the sidelines if you want, just make it official.

This is not just my opinion it seems to be half of the argument. Hopefully Gruden is why they are waiting, otherwise it is giving up on making a bowl just to wait another week. Makes no sense to me.
