I probably should have fixed my own post to say fans are tired of losing. Period.![]()
We are as depressed and oppressed as any fan base has ever been. I remember my friends in Tuscaloosa during their coaching debacle, going through the same progression as us. I remember sitting in my bar with a Bama friend of mine as we watched Casey Clausen fire a strike to Jason Witten on 3rd and 19 that slammed the door on Bama...and he said to me, "I can't take it anymore. We are at the bottom of the SEC and we are ALABAMA. Bear Bryant is turning in his grave. We need a home run hire to get us out of this f'kng mess." I bought him a double tall bourbon and coke...and I actually felt sorry for him. But I was secretly laughing inside.
Touché to me!
Hubbs comment misses one very important point. This team will have a much better chance to make a bowl game without Dooley on the sidelines than it would have with him on it. Let Jay Graham have a chance to be a head coach for two games. Or bring a 10-year-old schoolgirl out of the stands. She could manage the clock at the end of the game as well as Dooley. Just, please, anybody but Dooley.

I remember those days and no, I didn't feel sorry for the bammers. We went through that losing streak to them back in the 70-80's ( I believe it was 11 games - not sure). No sympathy. But yeah, we're on the bottom of the conference. I sure don't want to lose, but I personally don't think we can beat Vandy and after last year, anything can happen with Kentucky.
Hyperbole aside, I think you are right. I think it would actually motivate the team more. They have to know he's gone anyhow.
In all seriousness, I think Dooley's relationship with the players is beyond toxic. They have to remove him. I was serious about Jay Graham, but their might be other assistants to handle the interim role better.
They'll have several weeks after the last MNF and bowl game to decide![]()
I would agree about Graham, but Chaney has been here the longest of all the coaches, including Dooley. Wouldn't it be silly if they fired Dooley and made Sunseri the interim HC?![]()
The silence coming from the AD is troublesome. I keep thinking that if we can let two Tennessee legends go during the season (Majors and Fulmer) then what in the world do we owe Dooley? Give this fan base some hope, please! We are dying a slow death of a thousand paper cuts.
