Official Jon Gruden Thread VI

Sounds like the plan is already in place. Considering that almost all of the "insiders" have all agreed Gruden has been the only HC prospect we have contacted, I think this bolds well for us.

I probably should have fixed my own post to say fans are tired of losing. Period. :)

We are as depressed and oppressed as any fan base has ever been. I remember my friends in Tuscaloosa during their coaching debacle, going through the same progression as us. I remember sitting in my bar with a Bama friend of mine as we watched Casey Clausen fire a strike to Jason Witten on 3rd and 19 that slammed the door on Bama...and he said to me, "I can't take it anymore. We are at the bottom of the SEC and we are ALABAMA. Bear Bryant is turning in his grave. We need a home run hire to get us out of this f'kng mess." I bought him a double tall bourbon and coke...and I actually felt sorry for him. But I was secretly laughing inside.

Touché to me!

Hubbs comment misses one very important point. This team will have a much better chance to make a bowl game without Dooley on the sidelines than it would have with him on it. Let Jay Graham have a chance to be a head coach for two games. Or bring a 10-year-old schoolgirl out of the stands. She could manage the clock at the end of the game as well as Dooley. Just, please, anybody but Dooley.

Sounds like somebody needs to buy you a double tall bourbon and coke.

Hyperbole aside, I think you are right. I think it would actually motivate the team more. They have to know he's gone anyhow.

I hope so, brother Saint. In fact, we all hope so. They need to make Gruden happen.

I have to agree. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to stand there and watch the clock run out.

The stadium will be completely empty for the UK game if Dooley remains through the season with no word of him being fired. Truly sad.

I hope that your guts are feelin it!!!!

If Dooley isnt fired you can be sure Bray, Hunter and Patterson will bolt for the NFL, even if their prospects are not 1st or 2nd round, which they are today.

I remember those days and no, I didn't feel sorry for the bammers. We went through that losing streak to them back in the 70-80's ( I believe it was 11 games - not sure). No sympathy. But yeah, we're on the bottom of the conference. I sure don't want to lose, but I personally don't think we can beat Vandy and after last year, anything can happen with Kentucky.

FTR: I texted that same buddy last night as he was at the aTm game...I said,"what's the mood in Bryant-Denny right now?"

His response: SHOCK

My response: I don't feel sorry for you.

In all seriousness, I think Dooley's relationship with the players is beyond toxic. They have to remove him. I was serious about Jay Graham, but there might be other assistants to handle the interim role better.

The silence coming from the AD is troublesome. I keep thinking that if we can let two Tennessee legends go during the season (Majors and Fulmer) then what in the world do we owe Dooley? Give this fan base some hope, please! We are dying a slow death of a thousand paper cuts.

Great post^

I would agree about Graham, but Chaney has been here the longest of all the coaches, including Dooley. Wouldn't it be silly if they fired Dooley and made Sunseri the interim HC? :)

They'll have several weeks after the last MNF and bowl game to decide :)

I really really want to believe (X-Files?). I really do. But all my common sense and experience is pointing to the realization that UT has done absolutely nothing about getting a new coach.

While 3 other teams in the SEC are looking for new coaches, not a single word has come out of the UTAD. And the only name even being mentioned for our job is Gruden. I find it very very hard to believe that UT would only have one coach in their sites to replace Dooley, since almost anyone would do better than him.

After hearing that Hart isnt sure he wants Dooley gone and the administration at UT is in disagreement I really believe nothing has been decided or is even under way.

Than goodness Mike Effing Hamilton is no longer the AD. That might be a distinct possibility.

Speaking of good ol' Hammy. Has anybody thought about the coaches he passed up for Lame? Brian Kelly, Gary Patterson, Kevin Sumlin. Have any of those guys shown they can coach?

The difference, I think, is that UT owes Dooley millions upon millions of dollars.
