It's really too late to let him go now. That should have been done after So.Car. With only two games left, what's the use. Kinda like the song "Too Old To Die Young".

I think you fire him now the kids have a chance for a bowl. Its obvious he has lost them. Dooley getting fired might actually boost the morale.

Sounds that way. At least be around the team and start recruiting.

Recap: these were responses corresponding to Hubbs' timeline report of Dooley's firing. The synopsis is that Hubbs predicts Dooley to be here through the Vandy game in order to play out through our bowl chances. If we win, Dooley gets canned after UK game. We lose, Dooley exits that Monday. Then Hubbs explained an option to give a new HC the opportunity to be around the team between KY game and a hypothetical bowl game.

Hubbs' actual quotes can be found in the Gruden Cliff Notes

Nice so they think that new coach coaches bowl game good news thanks

Thanks for posting that. I spend waaaay too many hours a day on here and it's hard to read thru 2k posts a day. Thanks again.

I had a bad dream that we hired a very incompetent coach. It was scary. He talked about strange stuff all the time. Stuff like Rommel, bamboo, and seasons within seasons. We lost to everyone we played, and even lost to Kentucky. It was strange.

So what's the news on Derek Dooley?

Well, that's why I quoted SBV and agreed with his interpretation. Hubbs' words are a little ambiguous...

...but the most logical read would be to give a new coach time to be around the players this year while recruiting too.

You're right. Ignore him. He is one of the punks I was talking about in my previous post. For each "insider" who says he isn't coming, there are 3 saying he is. So he can shut up.

Any mod with one hair on their butt would ban this fool or at least give him a week off to realize just who he called a punk.

F'ing nub.

No prob. As much as things get twisted around here, I felt a synopsis was in order to protect where the direction of the context was coming from.

From that statement it looks like they have someone in mind who is not currently coaching. Not trying to start a rumor because I don't know anything, but Gruden's current job would allow him to spend time with the team before a bowl game.

He's got to go! He's got to go! He needs to be fired today!!! TODAY!!! No excuses! We have just as good of a chance of winning the next two games with or without him!! Can him!! Hes a terrible game manager!!

All right, all right... Whatever you say. I'm only 12 anyway. I'm just skeptical about believing what I read around here. I am gullible and believed the other guy from 2 weeks ago when he said Dooley was to be fired the Monday after the South Carolina loss.

So I hope you can forgive me for being an ass. If what you say is true, then I guess that gives this guy some credibility that the others don't have. I'll take your word for it. And I apologize to you, LWSVOL.

FYP...Larry appreciates you giving him e-cred sooooo much.

I wouldn't assume that. The original statement was bold, up until that line. Then it seemed like Hubbs was generalizing the situation more than materializing a HC.

Edit: IMO

And that's what someone else suggested...that MNF ends Dec 22, before bowl games start. But it's just a correlation on a calendar...IMO.

For the record, I WANT GRUDEN!! 🙏

I'm actually glad he isn't fired yet. The decision has been made to drop the hammer so we can rejoice. The Dooley disaster will be over shortly.

I like to see that there is an actual plan in place. All of these actions being taken line up with what every person who has said Gruden may come would happen. I actually am taking it as an encouraging sign as to where we are in the process of getting a coach.

There is a part of me that agrees with you.

Gruden would give this program what it needs - Hope!

Gruden brings no guarantees on winning games, but fans are tired of losing when poor coaching decisions are a factor in the loss.

Without a doubt. He would unify our fanbase and give us a large dingy boat to cling to. Right now we are hanging on to a floating 2X4.

His hiring would spike an enormous shot of energy that our poor fan base desperately needs. I feel sorry for us.

I probably should have fixed my own post to say fans are tired of losing. Period. :)

Gruden would be a total moron to leave his easy job paying $4.3 Million per year to come to Tennessee and coach in a situation that's almost a no win deal.

I just hope our big $$$ boosters and AD Hart can get a rock solid homerun hire and not set our program back for another 5 years or longer.

VFL...GBO!!!

Gruden prepares for each MNF game the same way he prepared for a football game. Everyone knows his miss preparing for W's not talking points, so coming back isn't the issue. It's whether he wants the NFL or Tennessee. And from what I've read, he can't coach in the NFL for 6 years after he leaves the booth for all the information other coaches won't know with the media access. Plus he said the next place would have to be approved by the family, and again Tennessee has another leg up. Time for Tennessee to put up or not only lose on the field but lose a generation of VFLs. My bet is on Tennessee

Good point. Then again it could mean Petrino, Butch Davis, or Fulmer.

Hope so. I am worried Texas will make a run at him.
