It would be risky to go there. I think the fact that Dooley is still on the sidelines and offering scholarships is in itself misdirection. You did not ask for my thoughts though.

Warrior you feel DD has been told he is done by hart??

If so why has he been allowed to continue taking commitments?

Strong would recruit lights out. He would win big at UT. I don't have a doubt about it.

He is so deep into Florida recruiting that enterprise just leaves a gallon of Astroglide in the trunk at the Miami Airport.

Rather have him as patterson...gp is not a good recruiter

I'm torn on this but it's possible he was told not likely for 2013 but keep working and we'll watch. Also possible 5million reasons is motivating him to do his job.
Certainly if AD is in plausible deniability mode though everyone else should be...

Because saying that UT is not taking commitments would be obvious admission that his job was done at UT. No one wants that out right now. No one.

Except the fans.

Things need to be set in stone first. It is the only smart thing to do. You can't appear to just be reacting, even if you are not. Even the best laid plans can go awry in the world we live in.

The media reversal after a week of talking about Gruden is certainly part of my thought process on the matter.

The media has to reverse course on Gruden because neither Gruden nor UT was commenting on the matter. After a week with no new information, the media gets cold feet and goes with the safe approach..."no Gruden." The media knows UT fans will not care about the media being wrong if Gruden is hired because they will be so excited to have their guy.

A few weeks of no commitments would signal a change is coming???

Follow recruiting much?

Coasty as I said last night I like your tone on here and I am sure I could improve mine at times for sure. This subject is really the only one I have an argument with boro. If he said that dd being told he was fired isn't important in validating his info I would be very optimist his story is spot on.

However your question amongst other things suggest that DD hasn't been told a darn thing. Boro and his explanation of why DD is keeping quiet and going about his business like recruiting doesn't hold water.

If this subject is irrelevant then I can see everything else he is saying to be golden.

I'd like to clarify some things with you, because I believe some information has been lost in translation with all the background noise here. I don't know if it matters, but its worth a shot.

My original information from someone in the circle that would know, was just this:

1. Dooley was notified after the MSU game that he would not return for 2013. He was told he could handle the remainder of the season on his terms. If he wanted to leave then he could, or he could coach UT out and leave after. If he wanted to go ahead announce it, and coach out the year, that was fine too. They gave him all the latitude in the world.

2. At the same time it was stated that the " job is Grudens'. Since then I've been told details about an agreement in principle. Gruden would jot acceot the position until one is publicly available. He likes Dooley and did not want to be seen to be angling for somebodies job behind the scenes.

I think where you have trouble with my info is where I have "connected the dots" to piece things together. My assertion that Dooley being let go was a condition for Gruden is based upon my understanding that no job would be accepted while he was a sitting coach. Nobody directly said that to me, but the conclusion can logically be leapt to. If you have information to the contrary I can understand your skepticism.

I'd love to tell you where this info came from, but I can't right now. When this plays out, no matter which way it goes, maybe I can in private. Maybe then you'll understand.

This was specifically to you Bruin.....if I get sidelined by flaming posters I'll get back to you later.

Especially considering that information that could jeopardize those 5 million reasons was made public. Even though it was rumor. I think that leaked for a reason. Just playing hardball.

Recruiting is the main reason I wouldn't mind Strong..As someone else said, he is a lights-out recruiter.

Defensive minded as well. He's a huge upgrade from Dooley and we could hire a lot worse but is he the guy to get us back to national prominence?

as in the program still heading in the wrong direction which happens to be down at this moment in time.
