I admit I have been around here almost since the beginning and were hearing the same thing these guys are still hearing. Now all I hear is that Gruden is not even a possibility at this point and that Dooleys termination is not 100%. This from people in the AD, boosters, former and current players, and co workers with family that are involved in the decision making process. Take it for what its worth, I still am 100% on board with Gruden coming, but am more concerned Dooley could be retained than ever.

I just think the assertion that Graham has already talked to a replacement for the coach that was told he is fired 3 or 4 weeks ago he is not going to be retained. I heard the same thing, not faulting anyone, but the reason in my mind cannot allow me to believe this. It would have leaked to a major source or to the players and if the players know it would be everywhere.

I have another take on what Graham told the recruit:

Recruiting is sales. Good salesmen are completely convinced in what they're doing. They're the original sunshine-pumpers.

Also, good coaches have healthy egos, especially young-ish ones.

I don't have a doubt in the world that Jay Graham doesn't have a doubt in the world that he'll be back, under whatever circumstances, and that's why he told the recruit what he did. Not necessarily that he was assured that CDD would stay, OR that he has talked to a successor. Just a complete and utter conviction on his part that no matter what, he'll be here next year.

I believe it was bcarter that said the other day that there are probably 10-12 coaches that could make UT relevant again. I want Gruden and he is number one on my list, but the most important thing here is Dooley being gone and us upgrading the staff. Let's get one of those 10-12 coaches and hopefully Gruden, and let's get back to winning...

I have no issue with your skepticism. You disagree. That's cool. Don't play the superiority card in reference to common sense/ reasonable thoughts and I'm perfectly fine with whatever you do.

Geez, people, stop dumping on Thrasher. You're doing exactly what he said that this thread does too many times --getting in flame wars. Maybe you don't care for his tone, but some of you do provoke it.

I like coming here for the generally positive feel, even when people disagree. I know everyone's disappointed that we're not getting any direct info from the AD, and that things might not be playing out how we want them to, but it's starting to feel like a bad disaster movie here. At any moment Shelley Winters will go into hysterics.

How do you advocate common sense in one breath and say you're on the Patterson bandwagon the next? Let me get this straight: People who think Gruden is coming=no common sense. People who think Patterson will come=common sense. Is that what you're saying?

You must be really really close to the AD to know that for sure. So, no matter what happens, he coaches through Kentucky?

What about the bowl game, if we make it to one? Has Hart, or someone else that knows for sure, told you whether or not DD coaches the bowl game?
