That is in line with everything I've heard.
We are chasing GA and Fla academically. I support the higher standards. Their models seem to be working pretty well. I think that is probably the most telling part of your first post. If it is working for them it can work for us.
Sure it can work. It's worked here in the past. It's a matter of everyone being on the same page at the top - President, Chancellor, BOT, AD, big boosters, etc.
The problem with fixing it is as much financial as anything - as I posted earlier - as well as a major culture thing. Of course the culture thing could be fixed with the right leadership at the top.
The other thing that complicates this - and this hasn't been mentioned yet - is the Governor. Are there bigger aspirations in the next 4 or 8 years? I have no idea, but it wouldn't surprise me. If so, that complicates everything even more because touting a university that achieved high academic and research ratings during your tenure as Governor means a lot more nationally than a good football program. So that begs the question - who is on which side here? Thinking this way can really make your head hurt, but it is the reality of the situation and how bad it is.
The most important thing right now is unity - across the board. As much as I blame Fulmer for much of this mess and don't want him near this stuff, he may be one of the only realistic options to unite the base enough to work our way out of this mess.
It just chaps my arse to no end that we had a bunch of Neros fiddling around while the football program burned to the ground. And, everyone of them new the problems in the University, yet they stood around and ignored them. Now the chickens are coming home to roost at absolutely the worst possible time. We have the possibility to hire a Super Bowl winning coach, and we aren't ready because our administration is so effed up.

Misspelled racism IMO.It just chaps my arse to no end that we had a bunch of Neros fiddling around while the football program burned to the ground.
