If we keep Dooley there is no way Sal survives. That will cost the program$1.5 million for his buyout. Given the undeniable fact that Dooley is hanging by a thread no matter what, who could he get to replace Sal? The entire coaching fraternity knows the Doolander is living on borrowed time. Not to mention that it would be the third defensive system in three years. What would happen is that the Vols would end up having to overpay someone that wasnt the best choice anyway (see the Sal hire).

Obviously the only logical choice for Hart is to just make a clean break and let the Doolander go. The Gruden dream is dead, but even if Smart is the only choice the program simply cannot afford to let him have another year. I honestly believe that we will lose again and that will seal the deal making Hart's job much easier. After what they did Saturday if wouldnt surprise me to see the Vols fall to Vandy. Another thing to consider; how many folks will be there for KY, 50K? Less?

This from Basilio surprised me today;

And I'm here to tell you that I'm having my doubts about Dave Hart, who I understand has been running interference for Dooley for the past 10 days, while big $$$ wants to do the inevitable immediately. That's right, Dave Hart has been standing in the way of letting big $$$ can Dooley.

But sources tell me they were going to make a move last week on Dooley quietly and let him know quietly that he was not being retained for next year. But Dave Hart has intervened in this and is fighting for Dooley.

That cant be true, can it?

Is this the curse of the Woooooo? Are we doomed to this sort of dysfunction until we remove the woooo from Rocky Top?

Yep. We were so cursed by the "Woooo" in Rocky Top that we won an NC after it was initiated. What terrible luck, Rex..

Not to mention you're quoting Basilio. He's about as unreliable with his sources as you are.

Agreed. There's no way to keep Dooley and fire Sal. Dooley had his shot to replace a very good DC and failed thus he should be held responsible. Time to clean the deck and upgrade the staff to UT/SEC standards.

Basilio is more emotional then a menstruating bi-polar woman. Friday he said he was wrong to get involved and so emotionally involved in this and was just going to enjoy the season and let this play out. Monday he comes out screatching like a banshee in heat about Dooley must go today and blah, blah, blah was obstructing the process.

I think his Friday approach was the correct one.

There are so many wheels turning and information disdirections that no one outside a small group actually knows what is happening.

My advice is to pop some popcorn, kick back and watch this play out.

Personally I'd love to see Dooley gone today, but if there are some needs to keep him around a few more games or end of the season as part of facilitating a move like Gruden then so be it.

I was kind of 50/50 with Sal Sunseri.Part of me thought we should have gave Lance Thompson a shot.I still think if Wilcox was here we would be at least 6-3 maybe 7-2.

Rex is the Gruden dream dead?.... Missed it... How so.... Not being a smart a$$ just wondering.

I believe that there is a lot of misinformation out there and done so intentionally.....could be the case....may not be.... Would understand why Hart would contain this until end of season and why no one is in the know.....

Larry ( a guy that I 100% trust and actually has connections ) stated that the dream has died. Jon has apparently told some folks that he will coach again just in the NFL.
