I totally understand those reasons, as opposed to Sheath Huler's post re: the "product on the field".
Prospects can't help but hear the talk in Tennessee. When they hear Jon Gruden's name, they take notice. "That would be great," safety Jalen Tabor from Washington (D.C.) Friendship said when asked of the possibility that Gruden could be hired to replace third-year coach Derek Dooley.
Travel would be worth the effort if the "product on the field" was better.
Case in point: I'd consider going to Eugene next season if anybody BUT Doolz is coaching. He's an awful coach. We'd at least have a chance, and there would be hope and excitement surrounding the team again. Would make the trip a lot more enjoyable for anybody that has to travel a long way to get to games (home or away).

C'mon he's not that bad. Every coach would have punished a player for their Grandmother dying. Players have to know better than have family problems mid-season.
Total sarcasm, for those who may have sarcasm detection problems.
