Yes, and this has gone on for years. I wrote a letter to the editor of the Beacon when this came up after our championship year. Football helps the academic side, and the academics help football. It is a two way street. I don't understand how people can't see this. It is huge in a state like TN.

I agree. The thing that worries me is the frustration on the part of boosters trying to get a "chance of the lifetime hire" at TN and this clown from administration wants to show how important he is and could screw the whole deal. Hell, Cheek is from Bama and gonna lose his job anyway, may just be trying to sabotage the whole deal.

I am beyond pissed right now...

no but I think the mid-90's teams were a bit more talented. The point is close games aren't anything new

he and all that NFL talent were sick 3 times?

Bad Chinese?

We don't play close with vandy or Kentucky
We are Tennessee.

So u support ur team by not supporting ur team? Lol.. This fan base is bat sh-- crazy..

YEE HAW!!! I'm just gon get me tickets to every game next season, I sure do hope ol' Dooley comes back! Such a good southern boy in the orange britches! What a gentleman. 6-6 here we come!! Yee haw!!

Blindly go to games next season and enjoy the fabulous atmosphere if Dooley is still here. Smart fans can tell that the coaching is below mediocre, how stupid is it to "support" that product? I'll watch on tv.

Actually, Cheek graduated from Texas A&M, but then spent 34 years at Florida. He has been UT Chancellor since 2009.

My point is that we have sunk that low. Vandy, UK and Ole Miss are mediocre teams. We're now there with them.

Gruden would kill it on the recruiting trail.. The last thing Nick wants is him around.. The last thing the rest of the SEC wants is Gruden here.. They all endorse Dooley's "Process" overwhelmingly.. Wonder why?

..or you could have gone with the WOOOOO after Rocky Top in place of the YEE HAW

I can't even let myself think of what our roster could look like in 3 or 4 years if Gruden is our coach.

If I do my pants get tight.

K buddy keep fighting the fight from ur couch, I'm gonna go cheer for the boys in orange.. U know, where they can actually see/hear me.. I'm sure they appreciate u just as much tho..

Basilio is definitely reading this thread. We said he is backtracking and he says on twitter "I'm not backtracking". What's up TB?????? Tell Big Will we said hi.

not that big a deal. Even Peyton only beat Vandy by more than a touchdown once out of 4 games

That's true enough. I guess I should be happy...at least we won. That was the only SEC win last year.

Then there's 13 men on the field at LSU...lost that one.

There's the loss to UK.

Triple OT with UNC, lost that one. The good news, the NCAA enacts "Dooley Rule", just might be Dooley's greatest achievement so far. Dooley might argue that Shower Technique is more important.

We are 0-5 on the SEC, so the best he can do is 3-5 as he did his first year. But, if folks want to say a three point loss to SouthCarolina is progress...

O-5 for 3 years is something only Vandy could do. Losing a game where we score 40 + points has never happened in the history of UT football, Dooley accomplished that too. Back to back seasons with a losing record for the first time since 1910-11, and it's just as probable as it's not that he'll own back to back to back losing records for the first time in history.

He did create VFL! :loco:
