Position coaches, yes. DC - I would only trust Zook with that one. I could care less about Faxgate today. We all make mistakes and have regrets. That's his to own.
Zook's DC experience runs deep and into the NFL. Not sure this is the way Gruden would go with a DC, seems more like a position coach hire at first, but if he did I would not question it. Steele's D schemes and techniques are out of date and it showed up on the field. Position coach for him. However, he could add valuable coaching wisdom to any staff Gruden assembles.
First - I am completely on board with Gruden. Second - do you guys see it as a PR issue if Dooley were to some how win out these remaining games and then announced that he is terminated? Does that have any impact at all in thsi situation - especially if nothing is "formal" unitl post KY?
Dooley is allowed to coach ouot the rest of the season. Gruden to finish MNF schedule. Simple as that. People saying the info was flawed are just wrong. The info and circumstances changed.
This....exactly like we discussed in this thread yesterday afternoon. And nobody who had good info ever said Monday was the day.....only a possibility, with caution for patience.
Also, on the question of Grudens offensive scheme....he has spent the last few years attending clinics and meeting with coaches and coordinators around the country learning what works in college. That is not conjecture, but something he has spoken aboyt. I believe he has had this move in his mind for sometime, and will unveil a system that has been developed for success at a high level in his new endeavor. It won't be a rehashed west coast/ Tampa offense.
