Does this kill all hope of Gruden??

I agree, why would you leave the cushy job making tons of money for a HIGH stress job in the SEC where you are on the road all the time away from your family. Just ask Urban Meyer ... do you really believe he left Florida for health reasons ?

:twocents:

Because he absolutely loves to coach football. Plus, I think he's one of those guys that loves a challenge honestly. He stated before he loves TN and wants to bring it back to where it use to be.

I've heard rumors, not an insider at all mind you, that Urban left UF because he had a little touch of Petrino fever.

I have said before, I could make a lot more money doing things other than what I am doing now, and could do it a lot easier in another career. With that said, I love what I do. I love the challenge of running a business every day, managing people, relationships etc.....

I think the people that say "he would never come here because of his cushy ESPN job" have never been driven in a field they are highly successful in. Some people enjoy competition and thrive on it. Of all the reasons he will or will not come here, the ESPN gig, imo, will not be on the top of his consideration list.

You are the "know-all-end-all" of VN! I guess I was put in my place.

BTW...Just because my opinion is not your opinion....does not make me an idiot, but your posts make you one!:salute:

He didn't call you an idiot but it was nice of you to call him one.

Sensitive much?

And you don't think he's on the road all the time away from his family now? It's not like MNF football is held down the street from his home.

This. I contend the "Negavols" are really the ones that are so convinced someone like Gruden wouldnt come coach for lowly Tennessee. Give me a break. This is by far a negative attitude reflective of the program FAR WORSE than the reality we will most likely get shellacked by Bama and SC.

This just in! University of Tennessee MIGHT hire Jon Gruden, if Jon Gruden is interested.

This Just in! University of Tennessee MIGHT hire just anybody, if just anybody is interested. (track record to prove it)

he really isn't. Travel is one of the hurdles in the process.

ESPN did not put that contract provision in there for the hell of it. They make their money promoting MNF with Gruden as the headliner. They have a big investment in Gruden.

ESPN did not have this contract provision before and Gruden did not leave, so why put it in there now? Because they intend to hold Gruden to this. I agree that contracts are just a legal way to start, guide, and end a business relationship.

If Gruden wants out, it will cost him much more than a coaching buyout. Remember that the MNF deal with the NFL is worth $1.8 BILLION per year, which is much more than a coaching salary with a school.

Does not matter....He will NOT coach at UT...Not sure what the big deal is about him anyway..

Im sure Chris Low and Kirk Herbstreit know him a little better than you and what is going on and they say differently. Think they may be a little more in the know than a VN poster..No offense but just saying.

Gruden is not coming to Tennessee. I don't know why folks think it's gonna happen. We would be better off to focus attention to Strong, Peterman, and Petersen.
