IMO I already think Dooleys fate is already sealed being 0-5 in the SEC for the 3rd straight year. With that being said I do commend him on the job he as done minus the coaching aspect but from an administrative standpoint as well as recruiting. He has set the foundation for the next coach to come in and have success. He started the VFL program and has brought back talent to compete in this league. It is sad to say but I think the hiring of Sunseri and how poorly the D has produced is the writing on the wall. It was a mistake to try to "Sabenize" this University. We need a coach with ties to OUR school. Now if we do have a top tier coach in mind such as the Gruden then we need to go ahead and pull the trigger and if not we need to let Dooley finish what he started because bringing in another mediocre coach will just be a step back and we will have to start all over. I do believe the Dooley hiring was a panicked hire to close on the recruiting class. I feel bad for the guy because he is a class act and has done more than I expected him to do. Now lets get a guy that can coach these kids back to relevence. GO VOLS

You're just now asking this? His fate has been sealed.

I too respect the guy for the contributions he's made to the program, but it's time to get us a real coach.

See ya Dools. :salute:

Hope you are right. But I don't know... If Dools wins the last four, and the home run hires all turn us down, I predict that he will be here for another year.

great day !!! why do you need to post this stuff, what about how awesome our to the NFL class will be next year, if we return all the JRs, we will place atleast 14 in the draft and will probably have the best class into the NFL ever from UT!!!

If Dooley was coming back Hart would say so! His silence tells the story. Dooleys only hope is that Hart can't get anyone better than Dooley. That would be very unlikely and sad for all of us.

I think if CDD beat 2 of the 5 (UF, UGA, USC, Bama, MS) he may have bought some more time. After 3 years, you have to show progression...a couple of wins is not much for a tradition rich program like Tenn to ask for. Time for a game change!

I would not be surprised one bit if Dooley has not already been told he will not be returning. Best thing Hart could have done was to tell him before the USCe game, "Win it or this will be your final year here". Simple, direct, and does not require alot of discussion after the fact. Unlike most on here, I don't really care who Hart hires. The fact that he is even trying to land Gruden tells me he is not playing around. We will have a better coach in 2013. This team will be alot more competitive going forward.

No way in hell he gets fired if we win out. And for the last time, anyone who thinks Gruden is our next coach should seriously consider getting help for your hallucinations.

any coach you think we deserve (Gruden, Strong, etc.)

..after the pleasantries have been said....

Hart - "Well, we are certainly considering you for the HC job at UT">

Prospect - "Really? I realize CDD hasn't performed to your standards, but when the boosters hired him, did they think UT would competing for the SEC in year 2 or 3".

Hart - "Probably year 2 (laugh). Seriously, I'm not sure, I wasn't here. But they're pretty unhappy now".

Prospect - "Really? Wasn't UT under an NCAA investigation when he got here...um...which was about 4 weeks from signing day? And didn't he have to hire most of his entire staff in that time frame?"

Hart - "I believe so".

Prospect - "Man, that is a pretty tall order. Hummm....in his first season, how many seniors were on the team that started?"

Hart - "You know, I'm not sure, but I believe about 4-5".

Prospect - "So in year 1 of 2 to get to an SEC champ game, he had 4-5 seniors that were starting?"

Hart - "I know, I know, but....we believe he's provided a good foundation for a winning coach".

Prospect - "So he's recruited well?"

Hart - "Actually, very well. In fact that is one of his strong suits, as well as administration, starting the VFL program and helping establish the state of the art football complex".

Prospect - "All that huh....?" What was his record last year?"

Hart - "A miserable 5-7, and....he lost to Kentucky! Can you believe that?"

Prospect - Wow...that does seem like poor performance". Anyone hurt?

Hart - "Yeah....in fact...but lets not talk about that."

Prospect - "Ok...what is his record this year?"

Hart - "Well, it improved to 7-5 and he's taking the team to a bowl game. First in several years."

Prospect - "Well,....that seems like progress to me".

Hart - 'I know, I know, but you don't understand, we're Tennessee. We almost always win".

Prospect - "And you know that b/c you came from Alabama?"

Hart - "Look, I'm getting pressure from the fans for a change and I'm just fishing to see whats out there".

Prospect - Ok, I see. Well, why don't you call me after next season if things don't turn around. Perhaps then. Besides, my contract buyout is $5M and I understand the UT athletic budget is in the red.

Hart - Yeah....perhaps you're right.

Prospect - "People want to win where I'm at too, but CDD inherited a very poor situation. I'd hate to be where he is....in fact Hamilton called me and when I heard of the issues UT had, I almost hung up. I understand several other coaches UT called did the same thing. Perhaps you guys are a bit lucky to have found CDD. Lets face it. To win in the SEC it takes years of preparation and a bit of good luck on occasion."

Hart - "Yeah...I see what you mean".

With all these posts & new threads on this same subject matter day in & day out of Dooley staying or going, there's a book I'm sure that has been written about all this drama. Can we as Vol fans talk about other things?

He could end up 3-5 in the SEC and still be ahead of Missouri, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Auburn and Vandy.... #8 in the SEC, where the 7 teams ahead of us are all ranked in the top 25, is.... Yay, another Moral Victory!!

My gut feeling says Dooley is gone when the season is over.

Need a coach that knows the SEC. Someone who is a good coach and a great recruiter. I seen some of you want a Bobby Peterino. You know his history, If a job comes open he will take off. Just like he done. Louisville,Atlanta Falcons. Leave you in the middle of a season. I do not want someone like that.

I get your point, but you know good and well that ticket sales will never drop to 40K, even for next years South Alabama game.
