Not sure. if you'll see this since I'm on ignore. I can understand that if you don't like reading stuff that you disagree with.
Anyway, here's what I was pointing out:
The purpose of the church: to equip and mature believers to ministry and good works. To grow them so that they are not like immature, scared little kids. Part of this is the comfort of knowing that we already have Christ, as opposed to hiding in bed waiting for Him.
The purpose of the church is to be strong, courageous "soldiers", not scared little kids sucking our thumbs in bed.
That's why Jesus, himself, established the church. Note: Not to be a bunch of scared kids needing Sunday pacifiers.
(Note about above... Gates are a defensive measure. The church is supposed to be mobilized and active-- not scared and sucking its thumbs, just pining away and hoping Jesus shows up.)
Look... I wasn't trying to be a jerk. But with that statement, I felt the desire to weigh in and call it wrong.
Blessings to you...
PS: Please feel welcome to attend our church. You will receive much love, grace and fellowship. But you will also receive unfiltered teaching from the Word of God, and would most likely come away with a better understanding of the purpose of the church-- while being encouraged to live it out.
:hi:
Orange...I think we are butting heads while trying to say the same thing. Ive said before, message boards do not convey tone or intent in conversation. I'm sorry if you felt like my post was inflammatory but it was not posed as an insult, it is a statement of how I feel toward God, as he is a comforter and friend in time of need and concern, as he should be. I worry about any christian who does not see him this way...ursurping God role is the path Lucifer took.
All the above is true. But what is also true is that the quote in ephesians about coming under the headship of Christ is the base for being like little children in
faith, we
are to be strong and put on the whole armor of God, but this does not take away from the
submissiveness and place of the children of God
in faith. If we are
too strong then we lose
the need for God altogether...even a warrior has a general and turns to him when times are confusing.
I'm not the best at all this "talk"...living it is what we are actually supposed to be doing. While I take absolute strength and courage in my role, I also know that I am nothing without the comfort and support of God, and the peace that surpasses all understanding in bad times.
For me the purpose of the church is to receive manna from heaven, join in fellowship licks of fire together as in the day of Pentecost, and to realize our place, and that is as a SERVANT of God, following his WILL, not trying to infer his will or take charge of our roles without his consult.
The tension came from the initial comment about knowing nothing about church. Do not suppose such things sir, especially when trying to be a representative of Christ. This is what turns people off...
I do not expect us or anyone to see eye to eye about religion and individual assessments, that's the beauty of free will and spiritual revelation, to each his own my friend.
Wishing you and yours the best.
We good?
Thanks!
Allright Volnation, back on topic eh? If we had PM we could do this there.
