not only is that unsanitary, it's just down right wrong. on the other hand, people should be leaving their bags of weed laying around..

Well, I'm no insider, have no personal knowledge, am relying on 9th party hearsay, and am a lawyer (which means even my hound doesn't trust me sometimes). But, as I have heard it described, these conversations were occurring in a broader budgeting sense, and the discussion of future personnel came up more from a planning eventuality than from any specific articulated intent to replace any one coach. Hart apparently wanted to lower the University's cut to have more flexability due to lower receipts + revenues. Cheek said no.

After that, apparently Hart got more creative / resourceful and came up with something that Cheek was okay with.

Again, TIFWIW.

So if Cheek is out would that need to happen before DD fired/new coach hired? Would this be a complication in the process or would it remove a hurdle?

Sounds like boosters chipping in to pay salaries and or buy outs.

Understand that the Haslam's are gonna get what they want. Bill is the Governor, Jimmy is big donor and owner of Browns, Daddy Jim is on the board (I think) big donor and the big swingin dick around there.

Haslam's don't like Cheek and have the authority to remove him. Haslam's want Dooley gone (along with many others). Hart knows not to piss off this powerful family. He wasn't the choice of the Haslam's. he knows this. He is gonna do whatever it takes to get this done.

Simple as that folks.

I said several days ago to watch Cheek. Will he be fired? Not sure. I knew that he was playing with matches in somebody else's yard. If that yard is owned by the Haslam's, you better have eyes in the back of your head.

I didn't hear PC was second, but I did hear he is on the short list, along with two other coaches west of the Mississippi River. One coaches college, the other pros, do you know the two i'm referring too? If so please just answer yes, w/o mentioning their names :)

I think that's the inference being drawn. Basically, everyone believes that Hart DOES have a particular coach to replace, and just needed the green light. After all, you don't become chancellor by being an idiot. I am sure Cheek is fully aware of the behind the scenes deals. In fairness, he wouldn't be doing his job very well if he didn't protect his side of things when it came to cash.

At the end of the day, I'm sure Cheek wants a winning program as much as everyone else. I doubt he really cares what decision Hart makes so long as it doesn't hurt his constituency on the academic side.

TIFWIW, I heard that Cheek has been in trouble with part of the BOT for awhile now. Something about a high dollar academic program he pushed turned out to be a big flop.
