At some point, you have to stop pursuing Gruden and move on to another top flight coach. This is one of the top-10 all-time programs in college football. We should pay top dollar, but not grovel to anybody.

I am just at a loss to understand why everyone was so convinced that the deal with Gruden was a done deal. I think he'd be a great catch for the Vols but can't see why everyone was so convinced that it was already cast in stone. It may happen but to think it is a done deal is just naive.

I think it proves that if enough people want it to happen, all you gotta do is float it on the internet and people will buy it. Unreal.

I'd say Dooley does NOT win out and probably does not get to a bowl. Thats when Hart will have to play his cards. Dont know when that will be but Im guessing after the Mizzou or Vandy game. They have till then to get a deal done with whoever it may be.

Were there any of the "insiders" that had a Dooley firing happening today or this week for certain?

Who was the one with sources not related to anyone at UT? Has his story changed?

The timeline has always been on or before the week after the UK game. I wouldn't be surprised if he's fired before then. I wouldn't be surprised if he keeps his job until then.

Most have said today would have been the earliest for it to happen, but it not going on today doesn't prove the info either way. Boro, Jay, OV, and DTO have not made a garuntee on when anything will be made public.

The firing of Dooley is kind of like forecasting the end of the world. We all know it is going to happen eventually, but if you get the date and time wrong...all of the sudden you are a nutjob.

Well said. It's almost inevitable that CDD will be fired. Folks are just impatient.

Either there are reasons they believe they can get the buyout reduced, Gruden is still negotiating terms of his MNF and other contracts, or whatever else there may be that the general public has no idea about.

For Hart to remain completely silent despite the raging rumors tells me there's a reason for the silence. What that is could be a number of things. Just because there was no announcement today doesn't mean that things aren't happening. Just have to be patient and things will work themselves
out one way or another. JMO

There was a time I was convinced that some type of agreement had been reached. I spoke to a wise fellow yesterday..UT has never allowed coaches to do any kind of national commercials. Along those same lines, it is a HUGE culture shift in the program that we don't try to hire a coach on the cheap. This is one of LWS's biggest arguments, and he is right. All of these things take time to digest.

I have never seen Doc Vol claim to have inside knowledge. He never even acts like it. He says IMO or from what I can tell. You consistently use him as your ONLY example of any supposed insider that has been wrong or given a hard timeline. I see you for what you are. Ignored. But that is good because when you need to eat crow, I won't call you on it. You will be ignored.
