Because Gruden hasn't been announced, doesn't mean a deal hasn't been reached.

Because Dooley hasn't been formally fired, doesn't mean that he doesn't know that he won't be back next year.

I originally heard the time line of formally fired after USCe.

Gruden announcement around the KY game.
Nothing has changed except for the Dooley formal announcement.

Let me leave everyone with this. Don't get caught up in the HOW, just understand the WHAT.

If I heard Basillo correctly, he said exactly what we were saying two weeks ago.........Dooley gone, talking to Gruden. What more could we have said. That's what we were being told by multiple sources. Believe what you want to, the end will tell.

I believe they have been sound and generally agree with this, the only problem with this is that they have been increasingly silent these last few days. They are either not hearing new things, are not hearing the things they think they should be hearing, or are simply tired of getting trolled. Either way, it leaves those hanging by their tidbits gasping for air.

I will say that several of you guys ahve been consistent in your message and some here just cant seem to find the ones to listen to about this situation. OV, DTO, SBV and JV have all had a clear and consistent - after USCe but no clear date - message.

Decide what you want about the "insiders" but these guys have not back pedalled once.

Not every so called insider has said by this date for sure. So yeah I agree with you.

The problem for me is the same as it probably is for most other Vol fans. What has the UT administration done over the past 5 years to give us any confidence that they will handle these decisions competently?

Answer: Nothing.

I have complete confidence that they will bungle this in the same way our offense bungles late-game possessions with a chance to tie or win (see Georgia, MSU and USC games as examples).

Not advocating Petrino for UT, but do you really think Bobby isn't good? and obviously better than Nutt.

All I've heard is positive. There is no doubt in my mind that Gruden is THE target and has received a generous offer(s). I just can't go so far as to say he has signed a contract.

Everything is on lockdown now...so all we can do is wait and pray.

I think he is a very good offensive coach. I don't think he's a great head coach, or a good option for any program looking for stability or a good long term hire. I also think he is comically overrated.
