So can we all collectively disregard anyone and everyone who claims to be/know an insider after this noon presser comes and goes with no mention of Dooley being fired or a coaching change?

Absolutely, they are all phonies that keep back pedaling. They are hoping eventually it happens while constantly pushing dates back so their "sources" look real. They don't know anymore than me or you bud.

I may have misunderstood, but the impression I got was that this years class was not as good and we do not need to repeat the previous mistake and keep dooley to save this year's sub standard class.

In all honesty, there is a reason this class is not as good as the previous classes. We have not been winning, hard to sell a successful product, when the results speak otherwise.

My problem is this......

The longer we wait, the more likely we are to whiff on all of the candidates out there. If all of our eggs are in the Gruden basket and he says no, then we have missed out on Strong, Petrino, and any one else out there.

Not saying those are the guys, but we need to be pursuing multiple angles or we will be 5-7 or 6-6 again next year with Dooley.

Strong has a job. UT can't just walk into L'ville and say I know you have a game this week but come to Tennessee. The other guy, well...... I will say this, the more we lose and the longer this plays out, the more FORGIVING our fan base will become about his transgressions.

UT currently leads for the best RB in the class. UT currently leads for one of the top 3 WR's in the class. UT currently leads for the best JUCO DT in the class. UT is in great shape (most that know him well say UT leads) for one of the top 3 safeties in the class. Class right now is only OK. You add that group and it becomes a tremendous class.

I agree but if his agent hasn't been contacted at this point, we have already missed out. I would bet a ton that Auburn has already contacted both coaches' agents. They may have said no but they had to have been contacted by now.

Is there for sure a presser at noon today or is this still speculation?

It a little over 2 hours away. If they havent called the press conference yet, I dont think there will be many in the press in attendance.

That means nothing if Tn don't have a coach to coach them up. We know the current staff can't coach players up. Well Graham and Pittman can,

Thats why if we run DD now, it throws up a red flag to schools with the name coach such as Strong, Patterson, Peterson. They will start negotiating extensions quickly. Not firing him allows the ability to do work behind the scenes.

Maybe Hart is a idiot like Hammy was. I got a feeling this is not going to turn out good.

I dont know that Hammy was the problem before. I think UT will have a hard time getting a brand name coach because of the horrendous mess we are in. We litterally cant play defense.

Gruden may say there isnt enough money in the world to fix this problem.

Yes. Some people want us to believe all our eggs are in the Gruden basket right now. It's ridiculous to assume that if a coaching search is underway, only Gruden's people have been contacted.

I will answer again. We would be hurt worse in recruiting than we would by holding the staff in limbo for the next month and less importantly to give this team the best shot at a bowl game. Bowl game isn't of huge importance but an extra game helps development of the younger kids

Trying to save a single recruiting class is why we are in our current mess. Maybe our administration should make an effort to learn from the mistakes of their predecessors. If we end up hiring a new coach, we'll basically have to set the reset button on recruiting to some extent anyway with the new coach deciding if he'll even be interested in the guys Dooley and Co. were after.

Tony's blog has some good points, and seems to be in line with what's been said here. The only thing it conflicts is Skeeter's 48 hour statement.

You underestimate the press. They are like fleas on a dog, they will hang close by in case something is announced. And if most AD's could choose a "press" conference would be without the "press", but unfortunately they have to be there. The news is more for the fans than the press. The press conference could be announced as close to 30 minutes prior to it starting.
