Official Jon Gruden Thread III

Is there a reason he couldn't finish the season at MNF? It really couldn't hurt us if he did.

I know ESPN expects their player/coach employees to allow ESPN to break any stories involving them, so MNF would seem plausible and also would explain why no one in the local media here can confirm the story (if it is true).

Just thinking out loud, but...

Would any of that be a recruiting violation? Or only if he mentioned a recruit's name specifically? I'm not familiar with the rules in that sort of situation...

If he's only talking about taking the Tennessee job, it should be fine. Not the first coach to talk about it while still employed as a commentator. Unprecedented stage for it however.

Rich Rod beats USC in his first year at UA. Dooley has three years with not major win, and our fans still want to give him another year!! UFB

It was MSU for me. The thing is, we could have won any of those games, because other than Alabama, we had as much or more talent than every team we have played. There is just no excuse for not winning at least one. It would be different if we didn't have the talent, but we do.

I do wish Dooley the best, and I appreciate the difficult job that he accepted, but this is the way it is. We are not Vandy or Kentucky. We are not Auburn or Arkansas.

May Gruden win a NC with Dooley's players.

Arkansas last year was the first real sign of his ineptitude.

Kentucky sent me from in his corner to on the fence.

Florida completely convinced me he would never succeed.

The State game only validated what I already knew.

Today epitomizes his entire tenure....close but no cigar.

I dont think its who you think it is. But it doesnt really matter.

I do like what he has said in the past. To sum up:

"Hart wont fire Dooley unless he has his guy lined up."

"Thinks Dooley is done and usc lite result didnt matter either way."

Sounds to me like he thinks/knows Hart has his guy.

i thought u said gruden was coming, he' still coming isnt he

I had that same thought but then someone else offered this scenario. What if Gruden finishes out his stint on MNF, and every game he does, Tennessee gets mentioned.

Think about all those times they have to just fill time with banter, Terico turns to Jon and says "We'll miss you when you leave for Tennessee." Jon replies "Yea. I had a great time here and I'll miss you guys, but I can't wait to get to Rocky Top." (Or something to that effect.)

That would be a huge for recruiting.

Huge man, huge
