Why can Hugh Freeze do what he's doing in 1 year at Ole Miss and Dooley is in his 3rd year and can't beat anybody?

Same with James Franklin at Vandy in his 2nd year.

Because...He's Derek Dooley...He was sent here to get revenge for all the beatings his fathers favorite team took from us back in the 90's by ruining the UT brand.

Not suggesting 2e hire George Quarles, but Freeze convinces me that GQ could be a successful college coach if he wanted.

we also got Bama and MSU on our schedule, they have, maybe the worst auburn team ever and ole miss. also Dooley is 2-0 against Franklin in head to head matchups.....you really think vandy will beat UT this year??

1-0. Franklin wasn't the coach in 2010.

Unless you're already counting Vandy as a win this year.

Wasn't Saban competitive...no dominating (12-1) by year two and then won the NC in year three?

Thats easy. Hugh Freeze is an adequate coach and Dooley is a below-below average loser of a coach.

I see some similarities between our basketball program and the Tennessee football program. We had a pretty good hire and now looks like a bright future...you guys will be back sooner rather than later. Although i dont really wanna be coach searching at the same time :p

Before the season, Ole Miss and UK were viewed about the same. They were supposed to be at the bottom of each division and Ole Miss was said to have little talent at all on hand for Freeze to work with.

Arky was to contend for the west, plenty of talent and the hope was the D would be better. Then Petrino happened. If Petrino were still there, anyone think they would be performing this poorly? Coaching matters.

I was watching the end of the Ole Miss game, when Ark. came back to tie and I watched a player walk over to Freeze, give him a pat on the back, like "we got this", I knew right then they had a chance. They won.

We don't have that with Dooley, we just don't. Freeze and Mullins and others are doing more with less talent, it's simple...it really is.

Not defending Dooley here at all, but neither team has played the schedule that UT has thus far. You put UT with either of their schedules, and UT looks much better at this point.

This.

Like I said, Ole Miss plays Georgia next week, let's see how they do against them. They've lost to every good team they've played this year, just like us.

And so has Vandy.

People overlook Ole Mess. No one ever overlooks UT, no matter how long they've been down. Ole miss hasn't played this schedule. But, it is also year one. So, yes, Frosty has done well. Dooley decided to completely change D philosophy year 3 and it bit him in the butt.

Winning a few SEC games, something we have yet to accomplish this season. :hi:

Those two wins are against Mizzou who we've yet to play and Auburn who is atrocious. UT got Miss St and Bama this year from the West and Candy got Auburn and Ole Miss. Which two teams would you rather face?

I think Ole Miss is decent, but like you said, they still haven't beaten anyone of note. I think they beat Candy in two weeks to get bowl eligible. I don't see them beating UGA.

Dooley's doing it the correct way...morally.... building character....if we do ever win an SEC game he wants us to appreciate the W

The real question is not whether we have a tougher a schedule. It's not whether Freeze and Ole Miss haven't played our schedule and what would the result be. The question is, if Freeze coached our Vols this year would he get a better result than Dooley?

Mullins?
Saban?
Miles?
Muschamp?
Sumlin?

I hate the guy at Vandy so he gets no comment.

We're now off to 0-5 (SEC) starts in 3 consecutive seasons, the only other team to accomplish that in the SEC is Vandy.

Not even Fulmer would have been allowed to get away with that, why should Dooley? I like the guy, appreciate the effort and he's done some good things. Coaching on saturdays against the elite coaches in this league is not one of them.

I haven't seen enough of Freeze to know if he would've gotten us a SEC win with UT's talent. I'd be willing to bet the 5 other coaches you named would've had at least one win.

Hell, if Wilcox would've stayed I think we're 6-2 right now. No way our D is as horrid as it is this year. Sunseri will be Dooley's final nail in his coffin.

I agree UT's schedule is tougher, but people are forgetting both have played Alabama this year. Alabama's closest game this far has been to Ole Miss. UT lost by 31 at home. Ole Miss lost by 19 in Tuscaloosa. Still a drubbing, but just throwing that out there.

Ole Miss' other losses are to Texas & Texas A&M (and they should've beat A&M).
