Official Jon Gruden Thread III

OCI said he talked to a assistant of Grudens last night and he also said Raheem could be DC.

What?! And leave Washington high and dry? How will their defensive backs ever recover-they are playing so well?

I kid...I kid. Raheem would be great. After this season the sooner I get the "Jack" position out of my life the better.

Teams that continually lose are going to have that problem.

I agree with that. This is why even the idea that Dooley would be back next year is difficult to fathom. Winning certainly cures many ills, but there is no indication that will ever happen under the current coach.

Ultimately, this will all be sorted out over the coming days/weeks. Patience is required.

Tiny and AJ love Dooley that much that they would transfer? And all Tiny has to do is play one more year here so he can go pro and get picked in the top 15 of the draft-and he would potentially jeopardize that by sitting out a year, or going to an FCS school?

Nope. I said players stood up. Those 3 were 3 of them. You and others said tell any players that support Dooley to leave and play somewhere else.
So, as I guess I have to explain, anyone saying that is telling those guys to take a hike. Those stands by players have been happening since the sport started. It's a tight knit group, and you never know where you might run into a coach or player later. The smart ones support until they don't have a choice, then support whomever comes in. That's Lathers, AJ, and those types.

The famous Hogville duck predicted that Tenner fans would all go quiet today and be proven wrong and then there is also this gem from a very intelligent pig posted only hours ago....

UT fans are backtracking, and their top "sources" are either saying it was all made up or the boosters aren't committing to ponying up enough money to pay for Dooley and staff's buyout. Like I said, there is nothing to this. The guys who started the frenzy over there are far less confident than they were 2 days ago.

He has been offered the job twice in the past 5 years and declined both times. He isn't going to take it now that UT is in even worse shape.

In the commercial Gruden does he mentions "a sea of orange in Knoxville". Didn't think much about it when I first heard it but of all the teams he could have picked to mention the Vols would hardly seem at the top of anyone's list at this point in time. Just sayin'

Here are my thoughts today. If Gruden is in fact a DONE DEAL, there is no reason to wait to dismiss Dooley once the SC game is over. It should be done on Monday at the latest and Gruden announced as soon as possible after that. UT should not put it off even to save a million or a few from the buyout. That is a drop in the bucket compared to what it is rumored a Gruden deal would be. Why would you risk Gruden changing his mind and losing him over a million bucks or so--when his contract would be in the 10s and 10s of millions?

So, if Dooley is not dismissed by next Monday, I am going to believe that Gruden might be interested, but has not agreed yet.

uhhhhh, I think maybe that cologne would be just for you smokey!

I think Gruden wears this cologne, although I can't confirm.

He doesn't know. He's just throwing that stuff out there. AJ and Tiny wouldn't transfer. In fact they might embrace the chance to play for a top notch coach. They'll both go pro after next year anyway.

And you didn't get the point either. Of course they wouldn't.
Throw a jab elsewhere.

That's hilarious. UT in worse shape than it has been in the last 5 years? Dude is clueless.

His mentioning AJ and Tiny does mesh with what I have heard about them from others-that they love Dooley. But at the end of the day I cannot imagine cooler heads would prevail if Jon Gruden walks in that door-especially with Tiny who is looking at making a loooooot of money in the pros.

I wasn't referring to their relationship with Dooley. Because regardless what it is they'll not be going anywhere. That's just pure crazy talk.

Gonna make a bag of popcorn and watch them melt down. Gonna be classic.

I said this in jest a few days ago in another thread-but I do not want players like Tiny or AJ to leave. It would be a shame, and I just hope they can have an open mind if Dooley is shown the door-especially if Gruden is the replacement.

Again, it's loyalty and I commend them for it. Still doesn't change the fact that once Dooley's gone they'll be singing another tune.
