I really like Hubbs, but these reporter guys are also trying to stay on the AD good side in these situations. They don't want to be left out when a new regime comes in. Their job depends on it.

It gets so immature here at times, I get pissed too lol. I am in a high stress line of work, and higher than usual right now. I misspoke once and one poster in particular began to troll me and it just got old. I have no investment in anything other than loving my Alma Mater so much I moved back here to live after several years away after school.


I haven't insulted anyone that I remember to deserve to be called out in that way, have only relayed what I have heard, and have never spoken in absolutes about Gruden because those that talk to me haven't spoken in absolutes. The only absolute I know for sure is that Dooley is no longer the HC at UT regardless of him being on the sidelines one more game or 5 more games. He has burned that bridge. Gruden is very very likely imo, but havent heard personally it is a done deal. I HAVE heard the same thing that was posted yesterday. If he does sign this deal, we will be stuck with him for a long time. He apparently is not looking for a stepping stone back into the NFL, he is looking for a job and organization he can retire from. Everyone reaches that point, and the things people say make me believe that is the case for him now.

I will continue to post what I hear, got a little crazy in here and does during the day. Mornings and late nights are a little more tolerable. The bi-polar aspect of this thread in the daytime posters blows my mind. Let it go 30 minutes without a solid prediction and all of a sudden its not happening lol. I blame that on the 24 hour news cycle lol.

All the reporters have to go on right now are rumors and unsubstantiated sources--just like us. Unlike here, though, they cannot report those as facts on the air (if they have any credibiity). They have to have confirmation from somewhere like the AD first. Which they aren't getting.

All they can do is wait until they get that confirmation. The lack of solid information on this is a good thing IMO, but I wish it would be completed soon. It is killing me like the rest of you.

He coaches his son in HS now. It only makes sense that he would want to enjoy this for 4-5 more years. Seems like a family man and imo if it happens its gonna be about whats best for his family.

That's what I've been saying all along. Just because they aren't reporting it, doesn't mean it's not true.

On the flip side, just because some random posters on VN are reporting it, certainly doesn't make it true.

Grudinites are foolish for thinking a coach may come here who has interest in us and we have interest in him.

Negegruds are logical because they think a coach who is only undefeated against Vandy may win this week, or win out and get another year.

The hypocrisy is strong in this one.

Yes, he is a family man. I know that from someone in his family and as mentioned his wife's family still lives in Tennessee.
