Well, UTAD wouldn't see any of that money... that just benefits the state of Tennessee and the individual businesses (which, in turn, I guess some owners would then donate a % to the UTAD).

No doubt the downtimes with UT have cost everyone money... even the state of Tennessee through kickbacks from UTAD to tax revenue generated by people merely being on campus and other ancillary effects that produces.

It's a huge business and the UTAD revenue went from ~$116mil in 2009 to ~$102mil last year. UT football numbers (56mil from UT reports) are $15-20mil under most other major SEC schools.

One thing that I keep coming back to is this:

Where are the public dismissals for rumors? If Dooley was still the coach, then it would only make sense for the AD to quell the talk as quickly as possible, at least for recruiting sake. Even if he still privately let Dooley know he was on a short leash.

For Gruden's part, it would absolutely make sense for him to say "I just signed an extension to be with MNF for a long time and I am very happy doing that". Even if Gruden were being polite and listening to the boosters, he would at least publicly spin it.

Hell, the real smart thing to do would be to issue as statement saying, "I will not discuss rumors concerning currently filled coaching positions".

It just doesn't make sense that USA Today has an article about the speculation and not one single person involved has said anything.

Been preoccupied for the last 18 hours or so. After finally connecting with my main source (who gave me a yes without saying yes), and talking with several folks who are on this board and others, I feel 100% that the details have been worked out with Gruden.

Sorry that I've been away and I won't spend a lot of time here the next day or two. Just know that good times are ahead. I'm getting back to buying season tickets again. Go Vols.

I understand what you are saying. To me I see the big picture. The biggest of fish to the little guppy all trying to make a dollar. This coaching staff (or lack there of ) is hurting all aspects of what Tennessee is!

Gruden or not A big time hire is needed. I would love to see 100,000+ in Neyland for the O/W game next spring.

Not exactly breaking news there is it? Isn't that the way any coaching transition would be handled?
