Yeah, we have seen some people absolutely abuse the money. New vehicles, sending their own kids to Florida for spring break, family vacations (without the fosters), and the foster kids live pretty much the same life they had at home. No attention, treated different than the other kids in the house. Different food, different clothes.
We have had kids that we go in the hole just to keep them every month. Food, clothing, trying to make them feel at home with the rest of the kids. We put one kid on our Verizon phone plan, she was family to us. And she ate like a freaking hog, so she fit right in that way as well.
sidenote: we had to go out and get a used minivan a couple years ago cause the 300lb heifer of a foster kid literally broke the springs in the Oldsmobile. Broke the couch, broke the stool at the breakfast nook. I had to replace a terlit because the one she used was suddenly cracked at the bottom.
