Exactly. He took Louisville to a BCS Bowl (and won) and took Arkansas to a BCS Bowl. He's 75-26 in 8 years as a head coach. He's proven he can win in the SEC (Arkansas is one of the toughest places to recruit). Also, his record against USCe (3-1), LSU (2-2), UGA (1-1), MSU (3-1), and TXAM (3-0) is impressive.

You left out 0-4 vs Alabama and 0-2 vs UF and 0 DIVISION titles(never finished higher than 3rd), let alone conference ones. If the goal is to win SEC titles at any cost, which it would have to be to lie down with a rat like Petrino, then that move isnt going to do it. He'd be way down on my list.

I'm not saying I disagree, but it would put VN in a predicament if we finished 8-4 and somehow won a bowl game against a decent opponent.

Lol 9-4 would be hilarious. I'd love to see the anti meltdown of all the people that want Dooley gone.

I know these options are far-fetched, but ...

A) Can we demote Dooley to an assistant coach and pay him his salary without paying the buyout?

B) Would a guy like Gruden ever consider being an offensive coordinator if his contract was bigger than the head coach's contract? It would be a lot less administrative/recruiting work, he could do what he loves to do, and he would have much more free time.

Nope, give him a "raise" make him the AD!
Bet Hart has no such buyout in his contract .)

Unfortunately, SEC coaches have not had success against lil nicky at UA. One can find different records/stats to support an argument, but below are some that tell me a lot.

-Saban record at MSU 34-24-1 (no bowl wins, only once did he finish higher than 5th in the Big 10)
-Miles record at OSU 28-21 (1 bowl win, and his highest finish in his division of the Big 12 was 3rd)
-Petrino at Louisville 41-9 (2 bowl wins [1 BCS bowl win] and two top 10 finishes)
-Petrino at Arkansas 34-17 (2 bowl wins and 2 top 15 finishes)
-Saban at LSU 48-16 (3 bowl wins [2 BCS bowl wins], 1 NC and 2 top 10 finishes)

If that is the measuring stick for success, then AU or some other major school is dumb as hell if they have not already lined up Petrino for next season.

I still think the right number can get Gruden here. There is basically nothing I ever have information on, but I do know for a fact he was looking into coming here last time. With Hart as the AD and a big paycheck, I think we can land him.

Dooley is a good guy. Great personality and he's trying his best. I don't hate him. I just question if long term he's the right guy. I will gladly eat crow if he can sweep the rest of the games on the schedule and win a bowl game. But seriously guys think about the probability of that happening now???

Is 6-year $31.5M offer enough to get Jon Gruden to become the University of Tennessee's next Head Coach? We're about to find out. #Vols - OCI tweeted this.

I bet Gruden couldn't stop laughing.
