Football team will dedicate Saturday's game to Jay Rogers

"therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you will be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective" James 5:16.

Prayers sent for Jay and his family. God bless. True VFL.

Wow. I am so overcome with all kinds of emotion right now. I can't even begin to understand what he and his family must be feeling. I am so in awe of the VOLnation including our players. Truly puts everything in perspective. We just have this one life and we must not take it for granted.

Titans punter Brett Kern and LS Beau Brinkley retweeted my tweet regarding Jay, which led to others retweeting as well!

All of my best wishes are sent to Jay and his family. If everybody could be as loyal and strong as they are this would be a much better place in which to live.

For those who didn't see my thread yesterday:

Some of you from West TN may know the story of Jay Rogers. He is a die-hard Vols fan and Peyton Manning fan.

In 2005, Jay (a teenager) was diagnosed with a tumor in his chest cavity. At several times through his battle, he was given just a few months to live; however, Jay always bounced back and was strong through it all. Sadly, this is what was posted from his family last night:

"It is with a very heavy heart that I update tonight. After a couple of trying weeks and weekend Jay's Journey nears the end. His health is failing fast. We headed to St. Jude early this morning with Jay. He awoke with a high fever and labored breathing. The culprit, a large mass of infection in one of his lungs. After quick reaction from the St. Jude team he rallied back, and began feeling some better. But it was determined after all the tests were in that his body had began to shut down. Though his spirit does not want to quite fighting, his body does. After nearly 7 years of battling cancer his body can do no more. Jay was stabilized and transported by ambulance home. It is his wish to end his earthly journey at home. He never was one to want to go in the hospital. As in true Jay style he is more worried about us, his family and friends than he is himself. He reassures us that it will be ok."

The family and friends of Jay have set up a FB page called Jay's Warriors where they are wanting 5000+ likes. He exceeded that this morning. If you do not mind, I would love for each and every Vol fan to like this page and show their support. On the page is a picture of Jay today as he was hit with this devasting news. As you can see, he still is proudly wearing that UT hat.

May God be with you during this time. Love from VOL Nation! Keep Fighting and keep the Faith that God's plan is perfect!

Psalm 23:4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

As sheep we are scared but are protected by OUR SHEPHERD as HE keeps watch over HIS flock and protects it.

:wavey:

In Christ Always,

Awesome to see all the support from everyone in Volnation.

Can someone with contacts to anyone in the UTAD see if a sticker could be made for Jay to go on the back of player's helmets Saturday?

Is there any way someone could find out if this would be possible?

A simple sticker that says Jay or something on the back of all the players helmets would be awesome to see & help get his story out to a national espn audience.

Anybody?

One thing about VN , we may disagree on a lot of things but when it comes to a kid and one of our own that needs help we always pull together. This is what makes VN and Tennessee so special. In the end we got each others back.
I can handle a lot of things but a kid that is in Jays shape.I cant handle that.
Im proud of everybody that has stepped up and reached out to Jay and his family.
We can all agree that God has the last word in this and he is in control.

Now lets go out and get this win for Jay

I think that would be a violation.

they could wear a wrist band on their arm, wrist ankle to represent..
Im not 100% but I'm 99.9

Michigan State Football players have been wearing "Play for Paige" rubber bracelets in honor of a friend of the team that has been battleing cancer. The bracelets are like the yellow livestrong bracelets but are purple and say Play For Paige on them.

There are members of the team that wear them during games, practice, all day long.

My daughter is a LadyVol and wears her PlayForPaige bracelet 24hrs a day, including during competition.

Im sure something like this could be done in a very short amount of time for Jay. I will see if I can figure out how to get bracelets done.

I have been following this all day, very moving for all to come together. I made a post on my Facebook page for people who would like to add Jay and his family on their prayer list. I am truly moved and thank Jay for teaching me courage and an early gift of thanks giving! Thanks Jay God Bless!

I live in knoxville and will buy paint to paint the Rock. Just need some hands on deck to get it done.

There's a thread called "the rock painters........." on here, theres a few of us talking about it but we are too far away. If you check that out, maybe some others may volunteer to help.

I have been following #JaysStory today and I felt moved to do something...I started a twitter feed @JaysWarriors. I have already sent a tweet to Tyler Bray telling him to spread the word to the other Vols to see how many follows we can get overnight. Like I said, I wanted to do something. Hopefully this will get #JaysStory trending!
