Hamilton may be gone but the media is still in full effect and reporting something of this nature had any truth to it, they would be all over it like a rat on a cheeto.

Have you ever thought that business like this would NOT be conducted in Knoxville but maybe in another location?

I'm sure that if any talks are really happening, both parties are making sure it stays on the down low. What about things stated in this thread? You may ask. How seriously should an Internet message board be taken by the mainstream media?

There has been some discussion of these rumours on local radio. The rumors are swirling for anyone that is somewhat connected and will listen. Unfortunately, the fanbase is once again so fractured that nobody wants to be the radio guy or sportswriter to fan the flames of speculation, and more importantly get on the wrong side of the coach or AD.

That's the beauty of a forum like this, where its anonymous and nobody is beholding to the official AD party line. Many times info has been broken here or on TOS long before the media ran with.

The key is deciding who on here to listen to.

Where there is smoke there is fire, so far all we have are rumors of which the large majority have been started in this thread. If this rumor had any legs Hyams and company would turn over every rock in their path looking for evidence so they can be the one to report the scoop.

Hyams isn't in the loop like he used to be. This is why he's hated it ever since Fulmer was ousted.

Just performed a search on Google for Jon Gruden coaching rumors, NOTHING about him coming to UT NOTHING. I stand by earlier statement the only rumors swirling around about him being the next coach here is coming from this thread.

Now that you've assessed the validity of these rumors, there is obviously no need for you to waste your time in this thread.

This is definitely wrong. Maybe Gruden never comes here. Maybe he never considers it. However, this thread is definitely not where the rumors started.

So are you saying that all the rumors JUST came from here? Are people just wishing, or do you think that people may be hearing it from sources that just want it to be?

I know a few. I'm not willing to say them because my guy spoke to me in confidence.

I will say this, Dooley knows his days are numbered unless if he has zero wins in October. Hart is looking for anything to hang his hat on because he personally believes Dooley is turning things around.

Hart might make a decision to save his job though. Seems some folks are pushing for a UT guy as athletic director.

Might that be PF?

According to Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com Gruden told HBO's Real Sports with Bryan Gumble that he will come back to coaching in the NFL if the right opportunity presents itself.

Last I checked the Vols are not in the NFL but please do yourself a favor and Google Jon Gruden coaching rumors and prove where he mentions UT.

Google is not my source

I think some people just refuse to buy the rumors because of their loyalty to Dooley. I'm not saying that is the case with you, Gman, but for many others it is. I don't know if it is really they have faith in Dooley's plan or they just want to gloat if people myself are wrong. Either way they refuse to hear anything that they perceive as anti-dooley.

On an NFL show you would expect him to say that he would now want to coach in college? That was an NFL show.

Well that settles it. If Google doesn't catch it then it must not have started elsewhere. Dang it.

As a matter of fact, I watched the Real Sports episode with Gruden yesterday. He didn't just limit it to the NFL. He said college as well.
