'15 JUCO RB Alvin Kamara (UT commit 6/21/14)

SIAP - Interesting thinking about AK from Rivals analyst. IMO, Kamara would be nuts to consider Alabama if he sees Tendimes and Jones go elsewhere. Looks to me like Vols should be his first choice.

"I wonder if athlete Derrick Henry's commitment to Alabama will have an impact on fellow 'Bama pledges Altee Tenpenny and Tyren Jones. Tenpenny has tripped to Arkansas already and reports have Georgia recruit Brandon Kublanow in the ear of Jones to flip to the 'Dawgs. If one of those scenarios happen, do the 'Tide turn up the heat on running back Alvin Kamara? This should be an interesting situation to watch as the season progresses."

Yawn. Selling subscriptions, nothing more.

I think Oku thought the same thing, but lost his, speed, quickness and scholarship. Not many people can put on 10-15 pounds and it not effect their speed.

Disagree. 10-15 pounds of lean body mass, with some of that being in the lower body increases power, & potentially increases explosiveness. When coupled with an effective training program using plyometrics and other training methods, you can be quicker. :hi:

Georgia is loaded with running backs so is Alabama. Why are we having such a hard time recruiting an elite running back?

Marlin Lane is no slouch at all. A 4th year Lane is a really good player if he continues to progress. You guys act like he's going to just lay down for these young boys.

I think Lane is a better back than people realize at this time. With CJG's mentoring and his injury in the past, I think his light can come on at any time in any game...and stay on. Personally, I think he's playing very well as is.

Yeah, I'm a big Lane fan as I have previously stated. Green would steal his reps though. I have a sneaking suspicion we are going to be very happy with our running back haul this year.

The light is on. R.Neal has helped it come on. They are both running tough and downhill. That's why we'll be able to win ANY game we play the rest of the year. With us running the ball it will make this offense elite.

Who's head and shoulders above him? I know he does one thing better than any other back in this class. And that's be a pass catcher. You add that to his breakaway speed and toughness what do you get?

He is not on the same level as a few backs, imo.

Tyren Jones and Taylor are more complete backs, imo. They do all the little things well. Kamara doesnt have their instincts, vision or power. Both of them can also catch the ball well. Kamara's ability to accelerate through a hole quicker is the only area, besides maybe pass catching ability, that he could be considered better. Like I said in another thread, Kamara is not a 4.3 speed guy like you think. He runs a mid 4.5 on a regular basis.

Alot of people would consided Isaac and Tyner as more complete backs as well

Kamara doesn't have to have their power even though he runs very hard. His pass catching ability is much much better than theirs which is what makes them even. The boy can be put in the slot and you wouldn't miss a beat. Jones and Taylor can't do that period.

Have you watched his Rivals film yet? I bet your opinion would change. There's a reason L.Kiffin called and offered him. Tried to use the Reggie Bush pitch to him. He's a real weapon in an offense that can use him right.

Kamara is 5'10 193lbs & has been timed at a 4.36 40, he had 1,300 Yards Rushing & 18 TD's this past season as a Junior. He played in the Rising Seniors game yesterday, the coach had him play slot receiver & Kamara had 8 catches for 115 Yards. Kamara said Jason Croom has been really talking up Tennessee to him & that if UT did offer they would def be a top his list - Per Govols247

MZTerry :), we might need you to start recruiting Kamara for us too!

Said to have been timed at 4.36 like I would expect looking at his Rivals film. Kids sometimes just don't run good at events.

Everything on our side says he is a definite take for UA if he wanted to commit. The only issue is UA is recruiting him as an ATH not a RB. They see him as a C Jones clone which he would be very dangerous in that role with the other weapons we have in the backfield.

If Kamara wants to play RB UA he will not end up. And UGA is the team to beat. But I also think he is not the top choice for UT either. He would be a great RB for UT but I have to think UT staff wants a downhill runner to control the clock. Green and Kamara would be a grand slam for any staff.

I pretty sure you liked seeing C.Jones run that kick back. :)

Minor alum all day. :salute:

Yeah he is a weapon but he is not as complete as the other 2. I have seen his film. Even majority of the Georgia guys that have seen Jones and Kamara live will tell who is better. I said his catching ability is better but i like the other 2 in most of the other areas. Finding a hole, getting tough yards, blocking, etc.

There is a reason Bama offered him as an athlete and not as a pure RB like the other guys.

I think Kamara will turn out to be a good back for someone in the future. But as of right now, there is nothing to lead me to the conclusion that he is better than those 2.

I guess not , lol. Just a big difference in times there. 4.54 electronically several times to a 4.36 at an event. Was that 4.36 electronically or hand timed? Thats makes a big difference. Both are good times regardless.

I never said he was a better back. I said he was on their level. You said they were head and shoulders above him. I disagree. I think he just a different type of back. :salute:
