All right, this is a fair question. Wainwright hasn't been great this year after missing last season, but he's had a good last month or so. Lohse's been one of the five or six best pichers in the National League this year. You going with reputation or recent evidence?

Lohse has some big game experience though. But Wainwright, when healthy, is the better pitcher. Now I'm an advanced metric guy. Lohse has a solid, but not great 4.04 xFIP this year, while Wainwright has a 3.16 xFIP and been great the last month. I'd go Wainwright.

Wainwright fWAR: 4.1
Lohse fWAR: 3.4

I don't give a crap about the Cardinals, so until I looked it up I hadn't known that Wainwright had been good the last month. Last time I noticed he was still clearly not all the way back. Still, I don't know that it's a slam dunk. Lohse has been great this year. Not good, great.

I don't know about Putting my seasons fate in anyone other than my top two pitchers. That would be like the Braves starting Maholm or Hanson just because of a matchup. Doesn't sound too good to me. Garcia has been hurt and not his old form. Sounds like a couple of our guys.

oh and per espn, if that means anything lol

As of today, Tim Hudson would be on-rotation for any tie-breaker playoffs or the WIldcard game. If the Braves make it to the division series, their new ace could be rested and ready to start Game 1.

Kris Medlen, who has been nothing short of brilliant since joining the rotation, may be in line to open the division series, with Tommy Hanson, Mike Minor or Paul Maholm candidates for Game 2 and 3. Hudson could come back as early as Game 3, but certainly could ready for Game 4 of the LDS.

It would be, but I can slightly see the reasoning. Very slightly.

Medlen has "it" .. He would love that start. He would be even better, if that's possible. Minor, on the other hand.. I could totally see minor ****ting the bed in his first playoff game

I just can't imagine starting Hudson and losing the game, knowing that your best pitcher was sitting on the bench. That's a tough pill to swallow.

You know, kind of like not bringing in Kimbrel until its a "save" situation.
