I feel like there was one point where I predicted Chase Utley, no matter how much he played, would have a higher WAR than Uggla over a full season. And TBrown got angry with me.

And unless Utley goes crazy over the last couple weeks, Uggla will finish ahead of him in that regard.

YES. Still angry

Don't remember if I predicted a specific wins. I probably would have guessed in the high 80s.

I assumed the starting pitching would be excellent, which out of nowhere turned out to be dead wrong. I worried about the offense because it was dependent on several guys having turnaround seasons. Prado and Heyward turned it around; McCann didn't. I worried about the bench, especially w/r/t its ability to replace 50 games' worth of Chipper, and that turned out to be pretty bad.

The biggest thing I was dead wrong about was not realizing the leap that the Nats were ready to make. They're going to be the team to beat for the next several years. I knew they were coming, but didn't think it would be 2012.

I don't think anybody had the Nats making that leap. I mean, random people had them as the trendy division pick, but more just to create noise rather than firm belief in that happening at the end of the year.

Division isn't locked up yet, with our schedule to finish, but we still did far, far better than everyone expected. Especially if you would have told people who would get hurt.

Now this makes sense.

This was a good moment.

It looks like the Braves will actually make the playoffs this year. Any guesses on the score of the play in game? I bet they face a Cardinals team that gets to play the Cubs and Astros and relax for the rest of the season and lose by about five runs. That just seems likely to me.

The Cards will have to play every game the rest of the year, they will not be able to rest players.

The only way that is true is if they blow it against the Cubs and Astros over the three series in a row where they get to play the two worst teams in baseball by record. If they go into the final three games with the Nats series actually mattering to either team then a team behind them got very hot or they just blew it. I fully expect them to pull away while playing these scrubs.

Edit: It would appear that they are currently in the process of sweeping the Astros. 3-1 in the second inning...

You're managing the Cardinals. You've got a one-game play-in game against the Braves coming up. Do you start Kyle Lohse as expected, or do you stare at Jaime Garcia's left arm and think about how awful the Braves are against LHP and get tempted to go that route?

Garcia FTW.
