Yes haven't heard Neyland like that in a while. Recruits will remember that. Too bad we didn't pull it out.

Fans did their part for sure but it's also the fanbase who will make more out of this loss than players, coaches and recruits. Ga went 6-7 but signed the Dream Team..Texas went 5-7...got the number 3 or 4th class in the nation..FSU and UF both have had bad years by winning 7 or 8 games and still landed Top5-10 classes. Reason? perception of the program. If the fans, booster and local media are ready to burn a HC at the stake then recruits aren't going to walk into a program that could have an entire new staff in 6 months. I know my opinion it's going to change what Vol fans think but one loss to UF it's going to make a kid commit or decommit. Lots of football remaining.

I do not think AU will be in it after this weekend. AU is currently 1-2 and natives on the plains are already restless and wanting the staff gone. They host LSU this weeekend and probably will get steam rolled in that game. Next week 1-3 will be the topic of conversation down there. At best AU will finish 4-8, with a possibility of even worse at 2-10. Either scnerio will cause a major shakeup in that staff.

LSU(L)
Ark(L)(healthy Wilson)
@Ole Miss(?) if Ole Miss can put up 31 on Texas they can do the same on AU
@Vandy(?) Miss PI call against USC or Vandy should have beat USC
aTm(L)
NMSU(W)
UGA home(L)
AL A&M(W)
@UA(L)

If they are 1-4 going into road games with Ole Miss and Vandy they will be in a downward spiral and easily could finish 2-10, but 4-8 at best.

Green or others still looking at AU will not end up there and would not be surprised to see others jump ship. JMO

Lane never had problems recruiting, he's an elite recruiter, a proven elite recruiter. I'm just saying Gruden is not proven, but people assume every 5* would be begging to play for him. I didn't say name recognition isn't helpful, but endless hours of work is where you really succeed in recruiting, in addition to the endless hours of football work. NFL coaches only have half as much work to do.

You honestly believe that?

Even if that were true, which it isn't by any stretch of the imagination, Gruden still gets up at 4 in the morning to watch film to get ready for his MNF gig. He bought a scissor lift so he could video his son's high school offensive line in practice.

I have no doubt Gruden, who is known as a tireless worker, would succeed in recruiting.

uh, we have that same problem over here. We have 3 "should" wins left... that would put us at 5-7 again (1-7 sec)... if that happens, dools is gone and so is the hopes of landing Green based on you logic.

No but we haven't won a big game around here in years. We could taste this one then #10 happened to us on defense. If Dooley can beat UGA in two weeks he's safe. If he pulls an upset over Bama the fanbase would back him all the way. We've been losing and looking bad in the losses. This is his third year we shouldn't fall apart mentally. No excuses for that to happen.. I hope he can turn UT around like Richt did UGA last year. We'll see though.

SN: I'll be watching your boys play just to watch that defense. My style of fast defense. Your CBs are more physical than I gave them credit for. They will come up and hit. We've got to bench our veterans that can't run with a WR. I'm tired of these guys they are calling DBs in our secondary. :)

"3 should wins"... who in the world are you marking down as 6 more loses?

IF Gruden would take the job, we should get rid of Dooley regardless of what his record is this year.

This.....we would be back in the Elite in the eye of every recruit. Gruden is all over Espn working with the QBs kids see this. Lane talking about getting kids to the pros over us wouldn't work because Gruden would show off his Super Bowl ring. We would be the star of the college game instantly. I don't need to hype myself up for nothing.

I gotcha. I was confused..you said "I was thinking about bringing in Dantonio as HC and Narduzzi as DC." What did that mean?

Everyone was talking about who could replace Dooley if he got fired (which I don't think he should right now) so I brought up Dantonio b/c I think he has done a good job at MSU, I brought up Narduzzi b/c IF we hired Dantonio I'm sure he would want to bring in his own staff & he'd likely would want Narduzzi as his DC.

Not necessarily. Hart is more intelligent than Hamilton so if Dooley is gone then bigger and better things are coming to Knoxville.

This team has the talent to be able to bounce back from the UF loss & still win 8 games (possibly 9 if we could win a bowl game), although I do think the loss of Randolph is really going to hurt in the secondary. My biggest fear is that the Florida game was built up so much as the STATEMENT game for this team & Dooley & that since it didn't go our way that they will fold & throw the towel in on the rest of the season.

I'm not saying thats what will happen, I'm just afraid it might happen.

This team has never shown the ability to respond to adversity against good teams. That's why I am not expecting much.

Stop underrating Florida......that's a good football team and a damn good defense.

We could lose to GA, USC, Miss St, Mizzou, Ala, Vandy.

of course we could... imo not putting mizzou and vandy in the "should" win category and putting miss st as a toss up is beyond pessimistic. but reading the board the last few days i guess some people enjoy it that way.

The team has more mental toughness than you think. It's one loss. You kill me jmoore.

Exactly & thats what I'm afraid of w/ this team. All you heard all off season was how much the team had grown up & was ready to face adversity & bounce back but then in the 2nd half Saturday night it was the same ole same ole.

UT will still beat Akron, Troy, and UK. UT should still beat Vanderbilt. UT has toss-ups against Mississippi State (best win is Auburn and Auburn is terrible) and Missouri. UT could beat UGA or SC (more likely SC). UT should lose to Bama. If UT only wins the will and should win games and splits the toss-ups, that would be 7-5. I think UF is actually pretty good and UT will probably beat MSU and Missouri and maybe pull one good win against UGA or SC for 8-4 or 9-3.

The UF loss sucks but it hasn't ended the season. The fans around here act like losing to UF is as bad as losing to UK last year and it is not. Fans need to come to grips with the fact that they made it sound like UT was going to whip UF and this delusion is responsible for the current backlash. UT is still a decent football team and losing to UF has happened many times before and UT went on to have good seasons. Yes, UT is not as good as we want them to be and another loss to UF is a gut punch but they are decent and I think they will still win some games unless they give-up like some of the fans on here. I pray to god they have more fight than that.

How did this team handle adversity when Bray threw an interception in the 1st quarter and Florida marched down for a TD and a 7-0 lead?
