Well, not really.

I did, however, find out this morning that I come from a line in which six generations back the male progenitor was an African slave in Virginia.

I am quite fascinated by the revelation.

Google sez there's a Boston, KY.

Also, make with the reparations and spread it around with your newfound brothers

I'd spread it to myself.

The comedic irony in this whole situation is that the side of my family to whom this relates are, while great persons, very much pro-white (I think that is the most charitable manner in which I can phrase the sentiment). Almost all of them were die-hard Democrats until Obama won the DNC nominee in 2008; I am tempted to send out an email asking if they will be voting for Obama this time around.

Well, now I feel kind of like a disappointment. I am a 6'2" "black" man (insofar as I have any African blood) who cannot dunk. I just feel as though I have let a lot of people down.

...."the gift" is different for each of us. :)

I'm light skinned, I catch it from both sides.

Can you play bass guitar though?

Nope...can't dance, either. I did play free safety in high school and was a mobile quarterback; however, every QB in the MidWest is a mobile quarterback in high school.

On a serious note, I am actually now interested in researching into his life.

What I know thus far:
- He was the sired by the head of the estate and born of a mixed slave woman.

- His father freed him and gave him 500 acres around his 16th birthday.

- His father died shortly after that; he left Virginia to start a new life in North Carolina due to the stigma and ostracism. This move cost him whatever money he had.

- He was a dirt-poor share cropper in North Carolina.

- When he died, he was listed as "White" on his death certificate. Both his birth certificate and his death certificate are available, listing him as "Coloured" and "White", respectively.
