USA Basketball

I'm curious to see who replaces Coach K for the next couple of Olympic teams. Coach Cal?

Too much drama.

I'll get flamed for this, but I think I would just ask D'Antoni to coach all the US teams for the men and let him run it. He's been an assistant for the last two Olympics and understands international play as well as anyone, plus he can be fully dedicated to it.

They were suggesting it might be Doc Rivers. Rivers said Greg Popovich would be on the staff as well.

I'd love to have Pop do it, though I don't think he will. Rivers isn't the best tactitian, but I can respect that actually.

Tactics? Seriously?

Play freaking D and prep for lazy zones augmented by anti US officiating.

That sniper is always hitting him.

He needs his teeth knocked out. I don't remember which guy Chandler should have decked, but that was a severe ass beating on the playground.

Rodriguez poked him in the face. I would have clocked him.

The more I think about it, the more I love the idea of a college coach.

I'd love to add Tom Izzo.

Boeheim has the respect and is on the current staff. Think he would just be too old to coach the next team?

Crazy stat...MJ and LBJ are only 2 players to have MVP, Finals MVP, Championship and Gold medal in same year.

Talk about a player with probably the best year of his life. Anthony Davis too.

I think his ego would get in the way.

It's more about personality and respect than strategy. If the players don't respect the coach, then we are screwed (like in 2004. That wasn't a talent problem, even though the roster was poorly designed, it was Brown being an egomaniac as a coach). They need to hire somebody who has the respect of the players. Rivers, Izzo, Popovich, would do that.

Plus, I'm scared Boeheim would try and play the 2-3 zone, and for Team USA, that wouldn't work.

None and I didn't say he would or should do it. I said id like to see what he could do with them

As long as we remember web picking the team that open court slashing isn't of the same value as it is in the NBA where the rules are stupid, then all we have to do is defend and rebound. That's where nobody can compete with us.

Letting Spain shoot 200% and unload tons of 3s in the first half today is case in point.

That three by LBJ was HUUUUUGGGEEEE. And Love was a man today.
