'13 FL RB Derrick Henry (Bama commit)

With the commitment coming this early, I have to give Bama the edge. I DO however believe that Henry want's to be a Vol (heard from friends of the program). However, he's yet to choose us because of the uncertainty surrounding our staff. Things may have changed, and for our sake I hope they have. I would love to somehow land Henry and Karmara. Our version of Thunder and Lightning with our receiving core would be NASTY. GBO!

I am not sure what he told players on his visit to UT, but I assume it is the same thing he told the players and commits at UGA on that visit for Dawg Night. He seems to tell everybody what they want to hear when asked. never wants to let someone down. When a UGA he was asked in front of a bunch of people while with Matthews and Glass(I think) if he was coming to UGA to play with Matthews and he said they would be rooming together.

Why I do not get to excited about anything Henry says. I do believe however that when he commits this time he will be 100% and will not change his mind.

I know that Derrick Henry's 40 was just a bit faster than Alvin Kamara's but I don't really love 40 times. What I love in recruits is if they have "Game Speed" which is their ability to hit the hole, accelerate, and burst a run wide open for a big gain if not a touchdown. I think AK and DH BOTH have "Game Speed"

I agree, but UT's situation seems to fit him better (minus the coaching situation). I say it's a toss up, with Bama having the edge. That being said, if he picks UT.. I wouldn't be surprised.

everyone around here is saying if he goes to Bama then he won't be a fulltime RB and possibly moved to LB or TE because of their depth at RB. I personally don't think depth at any position will stop a guy like Henry from seeing the field at Bama, or anywhere. I want him to be a Vol, but Bama is not a "bad" option for the high school senior.

definitely agree, if he goes to Bama he would get his shot at RB. but just like any other player,he has to prove he is better than the others. if he is as good as some people say he is then depth wont matter at all.

regardless of what team he chooses. if he doesnt pan out at RB, the coaches will make an attempt to move him to a position that will help him get to the next level.

Finally someone that I can agree with. Many posters are using Henry to anywhere but RB at UA to help justify and convince themselves it pushes Henry away from UA. BUt in reality if he is as good as advertised he will not have a concern at RB at UA. If not and he can not make the depth chart 3rd or 4th string at UA, good luck to wherever he goes. Which I doubt will be the case.

you have to learn to read around these posts and remember that everyone has an opinion, about EVERYTHING.

Elite prospects like this dont worry about depth charts like fans do.

i wouldnt assume its the same thing he told the UGA players, because I know what he said... and as always FWIW.:)

That is the way of the Bammer, lure you in under the false "I am such a nice guy" pretense.. then the next thing you know his testicles are on your nose and your maple trees have been poisoned.

I thought it was oak trees?

You take issue with the trees but not the teabaggin?

I love the outdoors.(hiking, flyfishing, camping) However I do not drink tea.

I still Lol everytime

Babyavi #2, I get the feeling that you are either one of our current players or one of our current commits/recruits. Of course, the 3rd option is a troll. Which is it? :)

I believe ya man. I like em both. Partial to Henry personally but kamara would be awesome too.

Same here. As long as he doesn't run upright he should be fine. Then again Eddie George ran upright, & it worked out fine for him & the Titans

I thought these were interesting:

Sparq combines
Derrick Henry:
4.45 40 4.15 Shuttle 41.3 Vert
Alvin Kamara
4.55 40 4.28 Shuttle 39.1 Vert

Not trying to downplay Kamara, jut highlight the fact that Derrick Henry is an incredible
athlete at 6'3" 240.

I'm a big fan of shuttle times. They are very telling. Henry's ST is unreal for a cat that big.

I think we will see a lot of shake up in recruiting once we get deep into the season, if we do enough to secure Dooleys job.. I have a lot of faith in that.. I also believe that Henry will be one that will put more thought into being at UT when that happens.. We could really change our class with a good season.

Here is what I know. Prior to DN and visit to UT Henry stated he was going to take those 2 visits and be done for the summer. That he would take all 5 OVs and decide in Dec. After DN before UT visit stated that again. While on the UT visit our insiders said that he would visit again over the weekend. Atleast not publically was Henry ever suppose to visit UA again until his OV. Thursday after his UT visit Henry was interviewed and he talked about his trip to UT and again stated he would take all 5 OVS, that UT would definitely get one, and he would decide in Dec. Also the paid sites wrote he would visit UA on Friday. After his UA visit our insiders said he was going to announce prior to the season. The paid sites reported that a few days later and now he will announce around Aug 20th or so. He has only mentioned one school he will visit in the fall now since he has decided to go ahead and announce.(UA)

Now Babyavi a new poster claims to have inside sources. He posted that Henry told the players he wants to play at UT. That UT has a better chance than most think and that he is only playing the game. Seems to me Babyavi is saying Henry will commit to UT in Aug or way else join the site a few days ago and post that. Atleast that is what I take it to imply. And he could be right because maybe the trip to UT was so great he decided he did not need to wait and wanted to visit UA one more time to make sure UT was the place.

Our insiders who have only missed one time this summer and that was on RN, and yes they called the Foster flip in May, say Henry will announce for UA in August. I have said if he announces before the season that it was probably UA. I am no insider by any means. So lets see if Babyavi is really connected or the UA sources are right come end of August. I will only post official info regarding his announcment or direct quotes from him until then, or only inside info if in favor of UT in this thread. We will see if Babyavi is the new inside source for VN. This should also make the sunshine feeders happy I will not post in the DH thread as much now.:)

I've said the same thing all along. TIME is UT's only friend here. The longer he takes, the better chance we have of landing him. I just think UA is too much to overcome here. I indeed think he wants to be a Vol, but it would be tough if the coaches DO get fired (which I believe they wont and will be here) then he will not have a spot at Bama, because they will have a nearly full class going into the high school season.

Henry's hs coach is the reason why he decommitted and he has been pushing him to Bama. Only a matter of time IMO. I would be shocked if he ends up anywhere else, especially if he announces next month.
