NC State fans.......WOW

I posted this in another thread but probably better suited here,

I've seen opinions on this board for the NCSU game range from being a toss up, to an absolute massacre. I understand that no true fan is going to chalk up a loss in what should be a competitive game, but I'm not sure where some of the predictions are coming from. I understand your schedule was tougher than ours last year, but you were a 5 win team. We won 8 after starting off the season very shaky. Also, breaking down the positions, Tenn is only clearly better in WR's and I'm guessing linebackers since ours are questionable. I could make the argument for our players in almost every other position. Don't take this the wrong way, but it seems a lot (all) of your fans are looking over us for some reason. The ACC thing? What is it? Something I'm missing completely?

Let me have it

5 wins playing an NFL schedule vs. your 8 wins playing a HS schedule.

You are not better at QB. NOWHERE is your QB rated higher than Bray.

Our O-Line has WAY more starts under their belts than yours do.

You have Amerson at CB and a mid-level SEC secondary after that. Granted, we don't have Amerson, but we have enough stud receivers to neutralize him. Also, the honey badger was supposed to be a stud last year and Da'Rick made him look stoopid.

The only place you have us beat is the kicking game.

The only thing that keeps UT from winning this game is their mental toughness. If we haven't matured mentally since last year, we get abused. If we have matured mentally, prepare yourself to be used like Cincy last year.

To the poster that is a Tennessee football fan, and a UNC basketball fan. Show some allegiance man. I guarantee it wont be harder than being a state fan.

I agree 100%. The different-school-for-every-sport tools irk me.

You realize I was just making a bold assessment based on a small part of the article. You know, to call out your poster who did the same thing, on an even less significant part of the article. It was a joke, obviously your gonna score at least 6 or 7 points...another joke.

Can't help what I grew up watching. Half of my family is from North Carolina.

Maybe you have family all from the same state, or have always lived in the same place. I have family from there, but am from Tn. So I wouldn't necessarily call myself a for that.

That's not necessarily a good thing.

NCSU can take away half the field with one guy and make Bray play smart football. He's struggled doing that.

NCSU's strength on D is Tennessee's strength on O. Tennessee has better talent but NCSU is better coached.

It should be a fairly good game.

Imagine. You're last SEC championship was in 2003? It takes you 25 years from then to win another, or really be in contention. Are you still a football school?

Thats what we have going on in Basketball right now. We have the tradition, just nothing more in the last quarter century or so. Kind of depressing

I'm already dreading this basketball season being the 30th anniversary of the Cardiac Pack. The circle jerk that will ensue, coupled w/ the fact that you guys are "supposed" to be good will be unbearable.

Just go ahead and accept that we're gonna whip that tail.

From their board.....the crazy thing is that the other posters agreed with this person

We recruit average recruits. Sure, some end up better than others, but for the most part were average in recruiting. Every year the team loses some we should win and wins some we should lose. We will never win a NCAA/BCS championship, that's just reality, and it's been 30 years since we won an ACC championship. The most exciting thing we do is beat UNC. Hopefully we can keep doing that.

That's the way a lot of people feel under Tom O'Brien. He's really a good coach, but he's never shown too much in recruiting. It's not that he doesnt go after good players. Just is not a coach with a ton of charisma that's gonna tell a recruit what he wants to hear.

He does have a knack for finding diamonds in the rough so to speak. Lot of two and three stars that have turned out very good. Problem is, we keep winning 8-9 games with these players, but recruiting still doesn't pick up. Something that cannot be mentioned enough, however, and that is TOB brings in high character kids who want to do well on and off the field.

Let's not get carried away. Amerson's a great player but he isn't Darrelle Revis.

Amerson was the best in the country last year at getting interceptions, but that doesnt necessarily make him the best corner. He is a great athlete, with incredible hands. He got so many ints because he took a lot of chances. Getting to the spot he felt the quarterback was going to throw it to. Here is a cool video of him walking you through 3 of his picks NC State's David Amerson's 13 interceptions evidence of intellect and athleticism - NCAA Football - Sporting News The problem with taking chances is a lot of time he picks wrong and gets beat. It's like a quarterback that throws a lot of touchdowns, but you're not hearing about his interceptions. In the liberty game, one of his ints came from a play he recognized from earlier in the game when he got beat on the the same play for a touchdown.

Dont get me wrong, I wouldnt trade him for any current player, but he's not going to shut down the entire half of the field.
