Nerd I know this is a message board but I'm impressed by you.. Most young black men I run into are either entrepreneurs aka wannabe rappers etc.. You seemed to have a good upbringing with your parents. It just irritates me to hear blacks say they don't have the same opportunities as whites.Didn't go see it. I wanted to though. I am sure it was entertaining with many inaccuracies. But if it whetted people appetite to learn more about the Tuskegee airmen, then that's great.
Also I am 25 years old and a not a history buff so many of your questions may not be answered well.

I know in the past that was true esp in the south but now it's a whole new ball game. I hope I don't offend you with this post.
I am not offended. I don't think that blacks don't get the same crack at life that whites do, it's that poor folks don't get a fair look. A lot of poor black folk out there.
Thank you. I have been very lucky to have the opportunities I've had in life.
Nerd yes they're poor blacks as well as whites, I've worked in the ghetto in Memphis and seen poor but to me it's all about parenting and nothin to do with poor.. If these kids had parents that cared or mentors they are plenty of options for these kids. When I'm talking bout poor kids I've seen I'm talking bout projects it reminds me of a 3rd world country.
To me it's a generation thing I may be wrong but it's like they're grandparents got govt help had children they're children never left or had children and they received govt help and it's just a big circle, not sayin everyone there, been plenty to get out of the hood but most stay cause of the benifits of the govt takin care of them.
